The name of a current PSV player was mentioned in conversations about Kodai Sano
1 min readLast weekend it became clear that PSV has pulled the plug on negotiations with NEC regarding a possible arrival of Kodai Sano. The people from Nijmegen would like to receive around eighteen million euros for Sano, and that is too much for PSV.
However, in these conversations, not only the name of the Japanese midfielder was mentioned. The name of PSV goalkeeper Joël Drommel was also mentioned, reports De Telegraaf.
Drommel was loaned by PSV to Sparta Rotterdam last season and will normally leave Eindhoven this summer. Earlier this week, it became clear that FC Twente would have made contact with the goalkeeper for a possible return to Enschede.
NEC would see in Drommel the ideal new goalkeeper since Jasper Cillessen has left Nijmegen. As a result, the men from Nijmegen need to look for a replacement.
Drommel is however not the only goalkeeper who is on the radar at Nijmegen Eendracht Combinatie. Other names are, however, not mentioned by De Telegraaf.
The closing deal, which in 2021 moved from FC Twente, still has a contract with PSV until next year. Due to competition from Matej Kovar and Nick Olij, despite a strong season at Sparta Rotterdam, there is no prospect of playing time at PSV.

"de sluitpost ... heeft bij PSV nog een contract tot volgend jaar" oké, dus PSV kan sturen wat ze willen. Vraag is alleen of NEC straks spijt krijgt als Cillessen was the plan all along... of dat Drommel echt een upgrade is. 🔥
Na het Sparta-seizoen van Drommel snap ik NEC helemaal. Echter, imo we moeten gewoon vertrouwen op Kovar of Olij en geen middenweg doen door iedereen door te schuiven. 👀
18 miljoen voor Sano was te gek, fair. Maar dan ook Drommel in die gesprekken... tbh PSV is basically clearing space everywhere, it feels rushed.
If Twente had the calls, i get it, but i hate that we just let Drommel become a "solution" for NEC. With Kovar and Olij here, selling makes sense, still frustrating.
