Situation around Joey Veerman reaches turning point, million-euro transfer seems imminent
1 min readThe situation surrounding Joey Veerman appears to be changing at a rapid pace, to the advantage of the midfielder from Volendam and to the detriment of PSV. Or is PSV also longing for a Veerman-free era? After five seasons, it’s also nice to have it be enough.
Saturday night, the midfielder again showed the old-fashioned proof of what he has in his locker, because one after the other, a splitting pass launched from his foot. The Volendam native played like a real captain, leader, and provider. PSV won in what might have been the last match of the Volendam midfielder.
The interest of Borussia Dortmund in Joey Veerman is currently, namely, 'very serious'. That reports Voetbal International on Saturday evening. Coach Niko Kovac and sporting director Nils-Ole Book are 'big fans' of Veerman, who earlier this weekend was instead downscaled by German media. Both BILD Zeitung and Ruhr Nachrichten managed to report that Veerman, in fact, would not be doing very well with the people responsible at Borussia Dortmund.
The situation around Veerman, however, seems to have taken a turn, making a multi-million euro transfer closer and closer. 'Coach Peter Bosz would like to keep Veerman on board, but if Dortmund decides to exercise the option in the contract, then Bosz and PSV have nothing to want,' writes Voetbal International.

'Niko Kovac has expressed internally the desire that the Dutchman come and strengthen his team', reports the weekly magazine about the midfielder of PSV, who is suddenly highly regarded within Dortmund’s management. 'In addition to Kovac, sporting director Nils-Ole Book is also a big fan of Veerman', according to the analysis by Voetbal International. It therefore seems that a multi-million transfer is about to be made in the coming days. More later.

So Dortmund downsized him, then suddenly Kovac wants him "intern" and Book is a fan, classic football chaos lol. If PSV gets a million transfer, fine, but only if recruitment has a Plan B ready, otherwise this midfield is mid for real. 🤬
"Niko Kovac heeft intern de wens uitgesproken..." If Kovac wants him, thats basically a green light. PSV must have a plan B, because letting him go without a like-for-like midfielder would be midfield suicide.
"Trainer Peter Bosz wil Veerman er graag bijhouden" yeah sure, but Bosz also knows money talks. Need to see who they target next because Veerman's tempo and distribution are hard to replace. 🔥
Dortmund interest is heel serieus, thats exactly the kind of deal that nukes our stability. Veerman speelt weer als leider, maar juist dan komt the bid... classic. transfer feelings incoming, bruh 😅💀
Those "splijtende passes" are nice, but it screams that we might be watching our own goodbye highlight reel. If Dortmund actually calls and Bosz can't block it, PSV will be left scrambling in midfield. Hopefully the replacement is already lined up, otherwise itll hurt.
Imo PSV shouldnt panic, but also dont get naive. If Kovac and Nils-Ole Book are both "groot fan", then this is not a small flirt. I feel like we are getting priced out.
Veerman doing that split pass again is scary. If this is his last week in PSV colors, its pure pain... 😅
The quote that Peter Bosz "wil Veerman er graag bijhouden" makes sense, but the money from Dortmund is always a different language. If they lift the option, PSV probably cannot block it, even if they want to. 💀
If Dortmund are really "heel serieus", then PSV should already be moving on alternatives, dont wait and hope. Veerman as the leader and the passer is exactly why losing him hurts... 👀
