1 min readSergiño Dest goes with PSV for their fourth consecutive league title. Dest was in line this summer to leave PSV, but the defender appears to have chosen to pick the right time for his money. Dest was allowed to leave this summer for 23 million euros, but he added up the pros and cons.
The result of that is that Dest decided to stay with PSV. The versatile defender, or midfielder, has been able to assess over the past few weeks that, in all likelihood, this season again there is a top team that will be playing for titles and thus a whole host of clubs were rejected in the past few days.
Long-time known Fulham made contact with Dest and PSV at the last moment, but the wing-back is not interested in that. The Eindhoven Daily reports. Everton and Brighton & Hove Albion would also have reportedly inquired about Dest, an English source told PSV Inside.
The English club, previously in the market for a number of other PSV players such as Pepi and former PSV player Tilmann, wanted to come forward with a 'serious bid', but Dest wants to stay at PSV.

For Dest, a longer spell at PSV is a step toward a future big club. "Everyone wants to push themselves, having a challenge is always good. It all has to fit, which is important. PSV is also a good and great club to play for", Dest said just after a world championship that unfortunately turned out disappointing for him in his home country, the United States.

Ik snap het wel, maar ik hoop dat ze hem niet te lang "multifunctioneel" houden. Dest moet scherp zijn, vooral aanvallend, anders wordt het een net-welke rol zonder echte groei. Dat Fulham, Everton en Brighton informeren zegt genoeg over zijn waarde. 🐐

"Het moet wel allemaal passen" klinkt als een slimme keuze, niet als arrogantie. Als Fulham, Everton en Brighton allemaal laat haken, dan waren ze dus ook niet zeker van de head-to-head. PSV blijft gewoon zijn beste route om door te groeien.
W Dest dat je "oude bekende" Fulham gewoon afwimpelt. 23 miljoen laten lopen en dan pas laat komen met interesse is vaak ook gewoon geen topplan. Als hij echt wil passen bij PSV, dan teken ik ervoor.
