Rangers FC showed interest in PSV forward once again

1 min read

Earlier this transfer summer, Couhaib Driouech seemed on course to move from PSV to Rangers FC in Scotland. Driouech was even already present at Ibrox during a European match for Glasgow’s Protestant club until the Scots decided at the last moment to pull the plug on the transfer due to an injury that was discovered during the medical check.

Now the winger has left PSV after all, and the left winger is now active at Celta de Vigo in Spain. Still, the Scottish club wanted to knock on Eindhoven one more time to inquire about another PSV forward.

According to PSV watcher Rik Elfrink of Eindhovens Dagblad, The Gers had shown interest in Esmir Bajraktarevic. Elfrink writes this on the social media platform X.

According to the journalist, it involved a loan transfer of the Bosnian right winger. “Rangers FC has shown interest in PSV forward Bajraktarevic, but the time to still arrange a (loan) transfer for the PSV player is too short,” the reporter writes.

Also due to the overcrowded occupancies on the wings at PSV, Bajraktarevic currently seems to have little prospect of playing time in Eindhoven. Earlier this week, the Bosnian-Herzegovinian outlet oslobodjenje reported that the wide attacker can still be loaned out to Hajduk Split, Ivan Perisic’s former employer and Ajax’s opponent in the UEFA Europa Conference League.

In Croatia, the transfer market is still open until 7 September, and thus there is still a chance that the Bosnian will leave (temporarily) for PSV after all. Since the arrival of Bajraktarevic in the winter of 2025 for three million euros, the Bosnian international has mainly had to make do with short substitute appearances, and last season the right winger of coach Peter Bosz was able to show his occasional skills from the start only sporadically.
