PSV talent present in London, departure getting closer and closer

1 min read

Last Friday, Voetbal International brought out a message that Scottish Celtic is interested in PSV talent Joël van den Berg. What’s more, there was already a Scottish delegation in Eindhoven to discuss a transfer, and in addition, Van den Berg was also not in the match squad during RKC Waalwijk - Jong PSV (2-2).

Currently, the midfielder is in London to undergo his medical assessment. Once Van den Berg passes this medical, the midfielder will then travel on to Scotland to put his signature on a contract until 2030 with Celtic.

That reports journalist Joost Blaauwhof on behalf of Voetbal International on Monday afternoon. ''Joël van den Berg would currently be in London. There he must undergo a physical test for Celtic. If all goes well, he will travel to Glasgow to sign a contract until 2030. A great transfer for PSV's talent, to an iconic club in Europe'', Blaauwhof writes on the social media platform X.

Last year the talent made his debut for PSV’s first team. Van den Berg was also last week responsible for the winning goal for Jong PSV in the match against TOP Oss (1-0).

Recently, the midfielder spoke to Eindhovens Dagblad about not being satisfied with a supporting role despite the fierce competition in midfield from among others Noah Fernandez, Kodai Sano, Paul Wanner, Guus Til and Sven Mijnans. Now it’s only a matter of time before Van den Berg finally signs with Celtic.

"Daar moet hij een fysieke testen ondergaan" ... that wording is so final. Tbh I love the player ambition, but i also hate losing another PSV talent to the UK market without seeing a clear successor. Wanner, Sano, Fernandez... ok, but who is the true next pivot if he leaves?

Laat me gokken, PSV denkt: talent verkopen = doorstroom.

celtic scouting in eindhoven was not a rumor, it was happening lol. van den berg in london for a physical and suddenly not in the selection... yeah no cap. hope PSV has a replacement lined up, otherwise we will feel it immediately.

Noah Fernandez and Til get all the minutes, fair, but Van den Berg still has a point about not wanting a role. Londen, fysieke test, then Glasgow to sign until 2030... this looks like it is already decided. I just hope PSV sells smart and keeps a buy-back or percentage deal.

Fysieke test in Londen en dan naar Glasgow voor contract tot 2030... dat gaat echt heel snel. Tbh, ik snap het wel maar deze concurrentie in de as van PSV was voor hem net iets wat hem kon doorbreken.

If this is true, it is peak "next step" stuff for Van den Berg. That he was not even in the matchday squad against RKC Waalwijk - Jong PSV (2-2) feels like a clear hint. 2030 at Celtic is big, but damn... middenveld depth is getting tested fast.
