Million deal for PSV turned out to be slightly lower after all | “This is the ideal next step in my career”

Pressure from the player, pressure from the agent, and good negotiations between the management of PSV and NEC did the rest, which definitely did not lead to a transfer fee of 20 million. The result is that at least two parties are absolutely delighted with the completed transfer. Both PSV and Team Sano are more than satisfied and very happy with the completed transfer.
In Nijmegen, of course, people can also be delighted, because 15 million euros is more than a decent amount for Japan’s neo-international. In the meantime, Kodai Sano has been presented and, at the same time, is incredibly happy after his move from NEC to Eindhoven. The midfielder makes that clear in an interview with PSV TV.
"I see this transfer as the ideal next step in my career", begins Sano. Although the Japanese player was already medically cleared on Wednesday, August 5th, the day after Olympiakos - NEC, his presentation took a little longer. Several PSV fans had already been concerned, but the formalities are now completed.
"PSV is a top club, you can see it in everything. What’s more, the character and playing style of the head coach really appeal to me. He even speaks a little Japanese, because of his own past with JEF United. Of course that’s great fun. I can’t wait to step onto the field here. I’m going to fight for PSV with everything I’ve got, day after day, again and again."
The Japanese man signs a contract for five years, until mid-2031 he is a PSV player. After Sven Mijnans and Filip Kostic, he is the club of Bosz’s third summer signing.

Lol die presentatie duurde even door formaliteiten, ik zag al paniek op mijn feed. Goed dat die afronding er nu is, ik ben vooral benieuwd hoe Bosz hem gaat inzetten tegen teams die PSV willen vastzetten.
"Deze transfer zie ik als de ideale vervolgstap in mijn carrière" - fair, maar PSV moet nu ook de juiste vervolgstap maken, haha. Als hij snel speelt ben ik fan, als hij blijft hangen wordt het toch lastig.
Eindelijk geen 20 miljoen drama, gewoon netjes naar 15. En Sano klinkt supergemotiveerd, vooral over Bosz en zijn Japanse connectie, dat is echt lekker jongens boekje. Ben benieuwd hoe hij zich verhoudt met Mijnans en Kostic, want Bosz gaat geen plek weggeven.
Vijf jaar is een statement, en die contractlengte zegt ook dat PSV geloof heeft. Maar 3e zomeraanwinst na Mijnans en Kostic betekent ook dat er keuzes gemaakt moeten worden, anders wordt het druk op het midden.

Sano zegt dat Bosz zelfs een beetje Japans praat, dat klinkt echt als een warm welkom. Wel benieuwd of zijn speelstijl past bij wat PSV nu nodig heeft in de opbouw, want daar wil je geen miskoop.
15 miljoen voor een neo-international uit Japan is gewoon lekker business. Benieuwd of hij direct gaat renderen of eerst vooral energie brengt op het middenveld.
15 miljoen voor Sano klinkt als fair voor PSV. Maar ik vraag me af of Bosz hem direct als echte versterking gaat gebruiken of vooral als squadspeler. Hopelijk zien we snel ritme, want midveld heeft tempo nodig.
