Lazio Rome sign former PSV player, departure by Dennis Man complicated
1 min readLazio Rome will strengthen itself with former PSV player Albert Gudmundsson, who was active for PSV between 2015 and 2018. In the summer of 2018, Gudmundsson then left for AZ in order to eventually move to Genoa CFC in Italy in 2022.
Since last year, the Icelander has been playing for Fiorentina and now it seems the winger is on his way to the blue side of Rome. With that news, Italian transfer journalists Nicolo Schira and Matteo Moretto have come out with information.
Lazio is expected to loan the former PSV player and will also force an option to buy in the process. This also has consequences for the current PSV player Dennis Man.
Earlier this week, namely, reports came out that Man was also in the sights of Lazio Roma and that the Romans would like to take the Romanian on loan. This news was also confirmed by PSV watcher Rik Elfrink of Eindhovens Dagblad.
Now it seems fairly unlikely that the Romanian winger will leave for Rome when the transfer of Gudmundsson is made official. At PSV, however, there appears to be very little chance of playing time due to the crowded wing positions and also because of the return of Ruben van Bommel.
Also transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano reports that the transfer of the Icelander to Lazio is complete. Gudmundsson will be loaned out and can be permanently signed for twelve million euros.
Daarnaast also knows Rik Elfrink that a departure of Man at PSV is going to be a complicated story. ''It’s not really being counted on anymore, although it’s still football. No ships overboard for PSV, because the Romanian was in principle included in the plans for this season'', Elfrink reports on X.

Fabrizio Romano zegt dat Gudmundsson verhuurd wordt met koop voor 12 miljoen, dan is de vraag: waar past Man dan nog in hun squad planning. Voor Lazio is Man waarschijnlijk het soort speler dat direct rendement geeft, maar PSV moet dit slim afhandelen.
Goal of no goal, dit is precies waarom ik Man niet zomaar zie vertrekken. Met die vleugelbezetting gaat hij alleen als deal echt klopt. ⚽🔥
Tbh die focus op de vleugels is logisch, maar Ruben van Bommel terug en extra bezetting maakt het voor Man lastiger. Als hij nog steeds verkocht moet worden, vrees ik dat PSV er niet meer uit kan halen dan wat ze in de zomer wilden. 💀
Gudmundsson huur + optie koop voor 12 miljoen is wel echt een signaal van Lazio. Voor Man betekent dat: minder ruimte in de begroting en dus meer druk op PSV om hem te laten gaan met een nette oplossing. Boel wordt ingewikkeld ja, zoals Elfrink zegt. 👀
Rik Elfrink zegt het al: geen man overboord, maar wel lastig. Als Gudmundsson rond is, verwacht ik dat Lazio sneller doorpakt en dat PSV ineens meer moet betalen qua voorwaarden voor Man. 🔥
"Er wordt niet echt meer op gerekend" lol dat is precies wat pijn doet. Als Lazio Dennis Man wil huren, moet PSV wel durven en niet te lang rekken, anders mis je timing en prijs.
"Geen man overboord" klinkt geruststellend, maar het zegt ook genoeg. Als hij in principe wél in de plannen zat en nu toch moet wijken, dan wordt het onderhandelen over rol en contract. 🤡
ik snap de huurconstructie wel, maar voor PSV is dit gewoon winst-ruilen. Dennis Man blijft dan zitten met 'wel in plannen, weinig uitzicht'... zonde want hij kan echt waarde geven als hij minuten pakt. 👀
tbh Man verhuur naar Rome is "possible", maar met Gudmundsson als prioriteit lijkt het nu meer op timing dan op ambitie. PSV zal geen risico willen lopen met spelvreugde op de vleugels.
If Lazio echt Gudmundsson rond heeft, dan wordt het voor Man dus nog lastiger om te vertrekken zonder puzzelwerk. Ben benieuwd hoeveel minuten hij dan nog kan pakken bij Van Bommel z'n vleugelblok.
Gudmundsson naar Lazio en die 12 miljoen koopoptie is echt een domino. Als Man al niet zeker speelt door vleugels en Van Bommel, dan voelt dit als extra druk om zsm een oplossing te vinden.
