How close are the million-deal and the million-salary? PSV still hasn't given up in the pursuit of defender
1 min readThe transfer carousel at PSV finally seems to be getting up to speed. Mounir Boualin of Soccernews.nl and Rik Elfrink of Eindhovens Dagblad reported on Tuesday afternoon that Kodai Sano and Filip Kostic are on their way to PSV.
The two are medically examined on Wednesday and Sano has meanwhile also left NEC's squad in Athens. There, Nijmegen Eendracht Combinatie plays against Olympiakos on Tuesday evening at 8 p.m. in the Champions League preliminary round.
Besides Kostic and Sano, PSV has still not given up the fight for the signature of Lutsharel Geertruida. This is reported by Eindhovens Dagblad on Monday evening. The defender from the Red Bull club will pocket a salary in the millions at the Philips Stadium and, at the same time, millions will be at stake if PSV decides to definitively take Geertruida over from Leipzig.
Last week, the ED reported that PSV would like to take over the former Feyenoord player from RB Leipzig. However, the asking price of twenty million euros that the German club is demanding could prove to be an obstacle between PSV and the German club.
Rik Elfrink also reports that the negotiations will still take a long time. ''There is still the matter of Geertruida, which—according to the information from this weekend—seems to be a case that will require patience for PSV. Sources close to the club and the player certainly did not judge the situation as hopeless'', the PSV watcher writes in the ED.
Geertruida herself would like to go to PSV, but then both clubs must reach an agreement about the transfer fee. ''But that a substantial financial effort from all parties is needed is clear to everyone. PSV, as is well known, has a verbal agreement with Geertruida, who would like to come to Eindhoven. The club does need to step up its efforts toward his employer RB Leipzig in order to be able to definitively release him'', concludes Elfrink.

Volgens het ED is Geertruida niet kansloos, maar Leipzig moet definitief overtuigd worden. Als PSV zijn mondeling akkoord wil verzilveren, dan moet de transfersom overeenkomen met wat Leipzig denkt nodig te hebben, geen half werk.
"zaak van lange adem" klinkt zo ook. Als Leipzig koppig blijft met die prijs, dan moet PSV echt kiezen: doorgaan en waarschijnlijk meer betalen, of druk zetten met een alternatief. Maar als Geertruida echt wil, dan heeft PSV wel degelijk een route.
Wie kijkt mee naar NEC-Olympiakos vanavond? Als Sano fysiek daar nog aandacht voor heeft, is dat wel bizar snel schakelen. Let op, na zo een wedstrijd moet hij wel direct focussen op Eindhoven 😂
Geertruida
Kostic + Sano komt te laat voor de CL-kwalificatie? In ieder geval, goed dat PSV eindelijk sleept aan de transfercarrousel. Alleen die Geertruida story heeft al maanden dezelfde plot.
20 miljoen voor Geertruida is imo niet eens gek, maar als Leipzig blijft traineren wordt het wel duur. PSV moet gewoon echt gas geven, anders gaat het geld straks naar transfers die niet eens prioriteit hebben.
Sano en Kostic erbij en ondertussen Geertruida nog in de lucht... tbh PSV rolt door. Wel netjes dat Elfrink het zo concreet maakt, want die 20 miljoen kan inderdaad roet in het eten gooien.
"lange adem" voor Geertruida klinkt herkenbaar... Leipzig gaat nooit even makkelijk mee, maar als PSV echt een mondeling akkoord heeft, moeten ze nu doorbijten. Met Kostic erbij wordt het tenminste direct sterker achterin.
Sano en Kostic die bijna rond zijn is wel echt niveau. Nu hopen dat Geertruida ook eindelijk deze zomer doorpakt want anders blijft het steeds hetzelfde gezeur met Leipzig.
