FC Twente wants to bring PSV back to the club
1 min readFC Twente reportedly longs for a return of goalkeeper Joël Drommel. With this report, transfer journalist Mounir Boualin, on behalf of Soccernews.nl, brings news on Tuesday afternoon.
Besides Boualin, RTV Oost also reports the interest of the Tukkers in their former goalkeeper. Up to now, the club management from Enschede has only made contact with Drommel, but for the time being, nothing concrete is going on between the two parties.
Drommel has been under contract with PSV since 2021, which took over the goalkeeper at the time from FC Twente. In Eindhoven, Drommel was never an undisputed choice and toward the end of the 2021/2022 season, the goalkeeper had to make way for Yvon Mvogo.
From the 2022/2023 season to 2024/2025, the 29-year-old goalkeeper was a reserve keeper behind Walter Benitez. Still, Drommel was appointed cup goalkeeper, and thus the goalkeeper played a major role in the 2022/2023 Cup Final, when PSV won against Ajax on penalties (2-3).
Last season, the goalkeeper settled down in Rotterdam-West to play for Sparta as their keeper. For the Spangenars, Drommel had an excellent season, and now he has returned to PSV.
Normally Drommel will leave PSV this summer since there is no prospect of playing time with Peter Bosz’s team. PSV has, after all, already signed two goalkeepers in the form of Matej Kovar and Nick Olij, and therefore Drommel’s future at Eindhoven seems fairly limited.

De Jong switching the press triggers faster is honestly a good sign. Still though, if the 8s dont connect quicker to the 6-8 channel, it becomes mid-table ball, not PSV ball. We need that intensity on repeat ⚽

tbh im not convinced by the midfield balance yet, one of those roles has to be more defensive if our fullbacks are gonna fly forward. Also, can we talk about those late substitutions? when they come too late the momentum is already gone 😅
"Set the tempo early"... yeah but only if the fullbacks actually show width. When they stay too narrow, Gakpo ends up isolated and then we rely on long balls 🚀
The quote about staying calm in transition is correct, but man, PSV still cough up too many second balls after the press. We either commit to the duel, or we drop off tighter. Otherwise it is always one counter away from chaos 👀
If PSV are going with that midfield shape again, i can already see the build-up getting crowded. With Veerman deeper, it should help, but we need those late runners in behind or it turns into sideways passing 💀
If PSV are really going with that higher press, i hope they keep the lines tight, because last time we stepped out and left space behind the fullbacks we got punished hard. Simons has to keep progressing the ball under pressure, otherwise it turns into chaos.
