Ex PSV goalkeeper signs with Willem II
1 min readFormer PSV goalkeeper Maxime Delanghe is leaving on loan from Cercle Brugge for promoted Willem II. The Tricolores announced this via their own club channels.
Delanghe will be under contract in Tilburg until the end of this season. ''For me, this is a great opportunity to get started in a new environment. I want to help the group and the team, and I hope to be able to contribute my share to our goal of ensuring we stay in the top flight,'' says the goalkeeper in a press release from the Tricolores.
Between 2017 and 2022, the Belgian goalkeeper was under contract with PSV and mainly made appearances for the second team. A debut with PSV’s first team never materialized for the closing stopper.
After his spell in Eindhoven, the goalkeeper left for his home country to go and play football with Lierse SK. Since 2023, the goalie has been under contract with Cercle Brugge.
Last season, Delanghe lost his starting spot to Warleson Stellion Lisboa Oliveira. As a result, the former PSV player is now therefore loaned out to Willem II.
The people from Tilburg were also looking for a new goalkeeper, since regular choice Thomas Didillon-Hödl is ruled out for the time being due to an injury. Didillon-Hödl picked up this injury in the first league match of the promoted side, on their visit to Go Ahead Eagles (4-1).

I liked the point about PSV's pressing triggers. When the front line cues the pass early, the whole team suddenly looks faster and more aggressive, in a good way. Still, i want to see it sustained for 90 minutes.
I am sorry but that substitution timing was peak for the wrong reasons. Bringing on legs late is fine, but we needed the tactical change earlier to break their midfield block 👀

Falling behind then turning it around is cute, but im not convinced about the game plan yet. Imo we need more control earlier, not just chaos after conceding 💀.
"Inside" PSV feels like the same issue every season: fullbacks overlapping, but the final ball is inconsistent. If they fix that, this team looks lethal in transition.
Why do we always have to be perfect to win games? The midfield pressure described here was good but the passing under stress still looked risky at times 👀.
Eens. The player mentioned for the chances created was clearly trying to thread balls into the box, but the final run from the striker just wasnt there... still, thats a fix.
When the article says we should press higher, i agree but only if the backline actually holds the line. If the fullbacks get caught stepping up, it turns into transition football for the opponent, and thats where we look shaky.
broh why did we switch to that slower shape? i felt the same problem, the half-spaces were open but no one took the risk to run in behind. 0-1 vibes if you ask me 😅
If the article is hinting PSV need to be more clinical in the final third, i totally agree. Too many chances get wasted and then you feel the pressure for the second goal.
If PSV are serious about controlling games, we need more tempo from the midfield. When the build-up slows down, their pressing feels like it forces us backwards too often, especially in the first 30 minutes.
