At the training ground | Liverpool fans urge the club management and point en masse to PSV
1 min readNotable sounds from Liverpool after the draw at the Johan Cruijff Arena between the Netherlands and Germany.
Jurgen Klopp, Cody Gakpo, Ryan Gravenberch and Virgil van Dijk on one pitch in the Netherlands meant a lot of work for the socials of Liverpool. Ongoing coverage of the international match between the Netherlands and Germany was provided via the socials of the club from Liverpool.
The Liverpool fans also got to see that in stoppage time Cody Gakpo managed to find the beautiful equalizer. The Liverpool fans then reacted en masse, but pointed not only to Gakpo but also to Van Bommel. Under Arne Slot, Gakpo was regularly brought down by Liverpool fans, but in the season after Slot’s departure, it seems that Liverpool fans have instead come to terms with the attacker who was sold by PSV to Liverpool for 50 million euros.
Across the North Sea, attention has now also been focused on Ruben van Bommel. The PSV player is making a name for himself in England and Van Bommel is also the subject of conversation among Liverpool fans. 'We are happy with Gakpo but please, get this kid from PSV before it's too late', a fan of The Reds posts on Liverpool's socials.

'What power, what talent, what a winger', another fan begins after seeing the brilliant cross by Gakpo. 'Get him Liverpool, before it's too late', sighs another. 'He’s going to be a sensation, that Van Bommel', a Liverpool fan knows to post under the reports about the equalizer.
'We need to be at PSV for reinforcements because he’s going to be a sensation,' we read on X, referring to the cross by Ruben van Bommel. 'PSV has a gem under contract with Van Bommel,' replies the following enthusiastic Liverpool fan.
An incredible finish from Cody as he equalises for @OnsOranje in the 92nd minute 👏😮💨 pic.twitter.com/3mbKeL4MuA

Okay but that substitution timing was peak. Bringing fresh legs when PSV had momentum is how you close games out, not just survive the last 20 minutes 👀
Tbh i think the biggest issue is defensive structure, not effort. If the fullback steps in, the holding midfielder has to cover the channel immediately or its chaos. PSV can play fast, but it must be organised fast.
Bro if that defensive line stays so high again, we are basically asking to get hit on the counter. Its fire when it works, but the margins are tiny against top attackers.
Lol that quote about being
I liked the idea of switching the play fast, but imo the overlap on the right side looked half a second late. If the winger had been braver on the first touch, we could have created more clear chances.
Eens. But if the plan is to rely on counters every game then we are one soft turnover away from getting punished. Dont get cute in our own third. 💀
I liked the point about Hirving Lozano being used more as a connector, not just a winger. When he drops between lines the whole build-up looks cleaner. That said, we still need someone to protect the back post after the cutbacks. ⚽
pfff if the article is right about our press starting too late, that explains those easy knockdowns in midfield. We cant let the second ball live like last week, its free transitions for the opponent. 🤬
If PSV really pushed that high press like the article says, it explains why they won those second balls. Gut feeling though, if the midfield one-timed like that all match, it will be punished by a smarter buildup.
If PSV are really going to play through the half-spaces like that, i need Dumfries to stay brave on the overlap. Otherwise we will see the same predictable wide-to-cross stuff again. 👀
