Another interest from Italy: PSV will not cooperate with the transfer

In September 2024, PSV managed to surprise friend and foe by signing Ivan Perisic on a free transfer from HNK Hajduk Split. Perisic left his childhood club after a conflict with coach Gennaro Gattuso.

To everyone’s surprise, the Croatian international headed to PSV, and at first, in football-loving Netherlands, there was a lot of misunderstanding about this transfer. ''Europeans can’t do with him anymore,'' said former PSV player René van der Gijp in September 2024 on Vandaag Inside.

Two seasons later, many analysts, however, have revised their opinions, including Johan Derksen. ''When they brought him in, I thought 'that’s putting a young player in the way'. But that boy is the fittest of the whole team,'' Derksen said last March on Vandaag Inside after the match PSV - AZ (2-1), in which Perisic provided the winning assist to Ricardo Pepi after a sprint of about sixty meters.

Last winter, according to various media, the Croat seemed on his way to return to Inter in Italy, but despite that, PSV decided not to cooperate with a transfer. Shortly after Croatia were eliminated from the World Cup in North America, the versatile Perisic was once again linked to a return to Milan by the Italian outlet TuttoSport, and moreover TuttoSport was convinced that the PSV player was going to submit a transfer request.

In an earlier conversation with Eindhovens Dagblad, Peter Bosz also spoke out about rumors that Perisic would want to return to Serie A. ''Don't believe everything you read about him'', Bosz said a few weeks ago to the ED.

PSV watcher Rik Elfrink from Eindhovens Dagblad has meanwhile reported that Perisic has a transfer clause in his contract. This transfer clause only applies if FC Barcelona were to come for the Croatian, for whom the international could leave for 'a bargain price' according to the ED.

In addition, a return to Inter is not included in the contract, so Elfrink knows. ''If the Nerazzurri want to sign him, then they have to go 'past the till of technical director Earnest Stewart','' the PSV watcher writes about it.
