1 min readHet Algemeen Dagblad came on Tuesday morning with the news that PSV target Mats Rots from FC Twente will make the move to TSG Hoffenheim in Germany for sixteen million euros. Rots was linked multiple times in recent months with a transfer to PSV because the future of Anass Salah-Eddine was unclear.
In the meantime, the Moroccan international has clearly indicated that he wants to return to AS Roma and fight for his chance there. As a result, PSV came up against left-back Rots and the club would also have contacted the defender several times.
So PSV is now too late since the defender is leaving for Hoffenheim. FC Twente technical director Erik ten Hag also says this to the local paper Tubantia.
''On the one hand, you have the financial story: this is a super deal for a youth product. This transfer was inevitable. We already know early on where we stand, and that gives us peace of mind'', Ten Hag tells the local newspaper.
Now it is up to the people from Twente to find a good replacement for Rots. Even the technical director knows that this will not be an easy task. “We are saddling the coach with a problem, because Mats was a very decisive factor in our style of play. We will be playing our first European match in just over a month, and such a player is not simply replaceable one-for-one,” said Ten Hag.

Het feit dat Rots terug wil naar AS Roma maakt het verhaal wel logisch, tbh. Maar dan nog: als PSV "meerdere keren informeerde", dan is dit echt een timing issue. En dan zegt Ten Hag dat het niet 1-op-1 te vervangen is, so no surprise PSV nu met lege handen staat.
Zolang Ten Hag bij Twente blijft zeggen dat het "onvermijdelijk" was, klinkt het vooral als wíj betalen hun prijs. 😅 16 miljoen is niet gek, maar PSV had dit eerder moeten tackelen.
Die Ten Hag praat alsof het vanzelf ging, maar hij zegt ook dat het geen simpele vervanger is. Voor Twente logisch, maar PSV moet nu wel iets nieuws vinden aan die kant. Hopelijk komt er echt een linksback met dezelfde directe impact.
Tbh PSV had gewoon eerder moeten landen. Als Rots bijna een vaste factor was in Twente's speelwijze, dan weet je dat hij niet lang blijft hangen. Wat zou Ten Hag denken als Hoffenheim straks ook zijn tactische rol inpast? brutal net als "superdeal" trouwens 💀

En dan was Salah-Eddine zijn toekomst onduidelijk, dus PSV dacht slim te zijn door Rots te pakken. Alleen als de speler zelf richting Roma wil, dan ga je alsnog achterlopen. Dit is zo'n domino-effect waar je vroeg bij moet zijn.
16 miljoen en dan toch net te laat... lol PSV moet dit echt slimmer timen. Mats Rots voelde als die linkback voor Europese punch. Nu ligt die rust bij Twente, bij ons vooral stress 😅
"Deze transfer was onvermijdelijk" ja oké, maar voor PSV is het natuurlijk gewoon balen. Als ze echt meerdere keren naar Rots informeerden dan moet je sneller schakelen, zeker met Europese wedstrijd in zicht.
16 miljoen en dan ook nog naar Hoffenheim... echt zuur. Ik snap dat Ten Hag rust noemt, maar voor ons voelt dit gewoon als te laat komen.
