Ziggo Sport analyst names Ajax as the favorite: “If you see Bosz right now…”

According to Ziggo Sport analyst Theo Janssen, this season it is not PSV but Ajax who are the number 1 title contenders for the Dutch league title in the Eredivisie. Janssen said this on Monday evening during Rondo on Ziggo Sport.

The former footballer, just like the rest of the Netherlands, saw that PSV had a false start in the Eredivisie with a 2-2 draw at home against Fortuna Sittard. ''For me, Ajax is the title favorite. I'm a bit worried about PSV this year,'' Janssen is adamant.

In addition, the analyst thinks that coach Peter Bosz, in hindsight, would have preferred to become head coach of the Netherlands national team. As is known, Bosz has extended his contract with PSV until the summer of 2028 and, partly because of this, the manager has effectively shut the door for the KNVB.

''If you see Bosz at this moment... I think he would rather have waited and become a national team coach. He’s a bit angry'', Janssen continues.

Then Wim Kieft goes on to discuss Bosz's style of play. ''Bosz just wants to keep playing his way with two central defenders who absolutely cannot do that. They gave away all the balls. That's a bit the limitation of PSV'', says the former PSV player.

After that, Janssen responds. ''That is Bosz. He wants to play there with a playing defender. Jerdy Schouten did wonderfully there. But in addition, something needs to be addressed. Ryan Flamingo is more of a real defender. He did that well now too'', said the former midfielder.
