Veerman candid about former teammate at PSV: “I was jumping for joy when he was called up”

1 min read

After two years away, ex-PSV player Joey Veerman is back with the Netherlands team. Last Sunday, Veerman started against Serbia (1-2).

There, Veerman was also important with a pre-assist on AZ striker Mexx Meerdink's 1-2. The final assist was credited to current PSV player Guus Til.

He scored with the second half under way for Tijani Reijnders and thereby the PSV player was again on the pitch together with Veerman. The latter spoke openly after the match in Belgrade about playing together with the current PSV player.

''I was jumping when he got called up. I think, anyway, that we have a really nice team—one that can also get along well with each other. I think you can see that on the pitch as well'', Veerman tells reporter Noa Vahle for the camera of SBS6.

The reporter also saw that the two former teammates have a strong connection with each other. ''He is someone who has a real eye for depth. That is great for me, of course. If I have the ball free then someone is always running deep. He is the very best at that'', said the former PSV player.

Nice to hear Veerman so positive.
