These PSV players may be in action on Saturday
1 min readThis week has seen the start of the first international break of the 2026/2027 season. Also on Saturday, the necessary international matches will be played.
In the UEFA Nations League, among other things, the match between World Cup contenders Czechia and Croatia is on the schedule. This game means that goalkeeper Matej Kovar and forward Ivan Perisic will face each other.
Kovar was still the hero of the Czechs in March during the World Cup play-offs. In the semi-final against Ireland, the goalkeeper saved two penalties, and in the final against Denmark as well, the PSV player was once again important, which meant that the Czech Republic qualified for the World Cup for the first time since 2006.
Nevertheless, Kovar & co. finished last in a group with Mexico, South Africa and South Korea with only one point from their three matches. As a result, the Czechs could return home after the group stage.
On the Croatian side, Perisic has been an international since 2011 and the rust seems to still not be letting go of the 37-year-old PSV player. Even under the new national team coach Slaven Bilic, the versatile attacker is on the right side for Vatreni.
In Orlando (USA), the friendly match between the United States and Peru is on the calendar for Saturday evening at 22:30 Dutch time. At Team USA, Sergino Dest has been selected by head coach Mauricio Pochettino, while Ricardo Pepi has been ruled out due to an injury and has therefore not traveled to his birthplace.

"Kovar was in maart nog de held" en dat klopt, maar die Poule met Mexico, Zuid-Afrika en Zuid-Korea was gewoon te mager. Hopelijk kan Sergino Dest zonder gedoe terugkomen, zeker nu Pepi afhaakt door blessure. ⚽
tbh ik snap niet waarom Perisic nog steeds zo constant wordt gekozen, maar als de sleet er niet op zit kan het natuurlijk wel. Dest geselecteerd is w, maar het is een vriendschappelijke wedstrijd, dus hopelijk blijft het bij 60-70 minuten.
Die Kovar was peak in die play-offs, 2 penalties gepakt in de halve finale is echt goated 🔥. Toch even schrikken van 1 punt uit 3 in die poule, zegt ook iets over hun verdediging.
Wie kijkt mee naar USA - Peru? 👀
Ik ben benieuwd of bilic Perisic laat doorzetten zoals bij PSV, want 37 is echt lang. Dest erbij is wel lekker, maar wel oppassen voor blessures voor hij weer terug is in Eindhoven. 👀
Kovar vs Perisic is echt een lekkere clash, PSV back line gaat dat in hun clubaccent voelen. Props aan Kovar voor die penalty saves, maar jammer dat Tsjechië daarna zo wegzakte met maar 1 punt.
Dest geselecteerd en Pepi valt af door blessure, dat is wel een beetje zuur. Hoop dat het niets met z'n opbouw doet, want PSV kan hem juist nu goed gebruiken.
Tbh die Perisic op 37-jarige leeftijd blijft gewoon staan en meebewegen, ngl respect. Bilic heeft duidelijk nog steeds vertrouwen in hem, ik ben benieuwd hoe PSV links/rechts druk zet bij zo'n type aanvaller.
Kovar tegen Perisic is echt spicy. Als Kovar weer penalty's pakt, dan is het meteen weer PSV-kwaliteit onder druk. 🔥
