1 min readThe summer transfer window in the Netherlands is over, much to the relief of PSV coach Peter Bosz. At the press conference ahead of Ajax - PSV, Bosz on Friday afternoon makes no secret of how pleased he is that his squad is complete.
It seemed to take a long time before the transfer carousel at PSV really got going, but in the final weeks of the transfer window it really picked up speed. After the presentation of Sven Mijnans on 6 July of last month, PSV also signed Kodai Sano, Filip Kostic and Lutsharel Geertruida.
This week, Sami Ouaissa, Ayoni Santos, Sam Lammers, Mikkel Bro Hansen and Lyfe Oldenstam were also brought in. Bosz is satisfied with these transfers.
''We came out fine and we have made another great selection. In the end, you can only draw conclusions, but from what I have seen so far, I see pure quality. That’s what we were looking for most of all. I’m not looking at what could still have happened, but at the final result. And I’m satisfied with that'', the coach says, as cited by Voetbal International.
Bosz also addressed the arrival of Mikkel Bro Hansen. ''A very special and talented player. If he doesn’t get playing time with us, he will play with Jong PSV. If we want to bring in players of this kind when they are truly there, we can no longer sign them, and that’s why we’ve already done it. He is training now at Champions League level; that makes every player better. How good he will become, we’ll have to wait and see'', says the coach.
Ayoni Santos was also highlighted. ''He is a player with many qualities, but there is still quite a bit that needs to be done. He is 21, but he looks much younger. He is a late bloomer, has a lot of potential, and is a good player. When we played against him, he caught my eye for the first time. I could see that he had something, for example how he played out the ball under pressure when we put him under pressure. We have started following him more closely,'' Bosz says.
Regarding Santos' position, Bosz is not completely out of it yet. ''I really have to find out what his best position is. He has played on the left winger, right winger, at ten and even at six. I need to get to know him better to know where he will be best able to shine in our system. I can imagine that he was very nervous at the first training. He comes from Rotterdam, so he wouldn't have been shaking, but I can imagine that it makes an impression: a new club, new people, new impressions'', said the coach.

"Daar waren we het meeste naar op zoek" ja, maar ik hoop dat die focus ook op de basiself uitkomt tegen Ajax. Santos nog zoeken naar zijn beste positie is prima, maar hoe gaat dat dan als we meteen druk krijgen? 🤬🤡
Bosz over Bro Hansen is echt logisch: als je wacht tot hij moet spelen op CL-niveau, haal je hem later niet meer. Maarja, ik wil wel dat die transfers ook direct minuten gaan krijgen, anders blijft het vooral "talent aankomen" ipv winst. 👀🔥
Wie gaat er dan diepte creëren aan de voorkant als Bosz de positie van Santos nog aan het testen is? Ik hoop dat hij niet te veel experimenteert vrijdag, want PSV heeft juist een selectie om het verschil te maken. 👀⚽
Ayoni Santos is laatbloeier maar Bosz ziet al die klik onder druk, dat is banger als het klopt. Alleen, als hij nog moet ontdekken waar hij het beste past (linksbuiten, rechtsbuiten, 10, 6) dan is het bij Ajax wel riskant om hem meteen te lanceren.
"Daar waren we het meeste naar op zoek" ... ja we weten waarom. Maar ik wacht nog op de echte eye-opener in de opbouw, want als het weer hapert tegen Ajax heb je alsnog gedoe.
Mikkel Bro Hansen klinkt precies als het PSV-verhaal van nu: je haalt hem, je houdt hem scherp, en Jong PSV kan hem laten groeien zonder druk. Bosz die zegt "CL-niveau" trainen, daar wil ik snel bewijs van zien.
Kostic en Geertruida in de laatste weken, maar goed dat het nu rond is tbh. Wel benieuwd hoeveel speeltijd Ouaissa en Oldenstam meteen gaan pakken, want dit soort talenten kunnen ook tijd nodig hebben.
Bosz zegt dat ze "pure kwaliteit" hebben gehaald, en eerlijk is dat wel het gevoel nu. Ouaissa en Santos erbij maakt de breedte meteen beter, zeker als Kostic en Geertruida ook door kunnen pakken in hun rol. Ben benieuwd hoe snel Santos zijn positie gaat vinden, want dat kan echt impact maken tegen Ajax.
Bosz zegt echt dat "pure kwaliteit" het doel was, en eerlijk, met Mijnans, Kostic en Geertruida voelt het als een echte volwassen selectie. Nu nog gewoon doorpakken tegen Ajax, geen gesleep met tempo.
