Talent looks back on the setback: “I never had the feeling we would have to face another one.”
1 min readNoah Fernandez provided PSV with the 2-1 win over Fortuna Sittard on Saturday evening, and it seemed like Fernandez was on his way to becoming the match-winner. In stoppage time, however, it was Édouard Michut who put the score at 2-2 for the Limburg side, dealing Peter Bosz’s team a massive setback.
PSV therefore got off to a false start in the Eredivisie season 2026/2027, and the young Belgian didn’t see that coming after his goal. ''After that, I thought: we’re going to make it a third. I never had the feeling that we would concede another one,'' the midfielder tells Omroep Brabant.
Fernandez saw that PSV played a difficult match and that things also went wrong before the equalizer. ''It went wrong in the middle of Fortuna, after losing possession. Fortuna then quickly moved the ball forward, after which that player - Edouard Michut - simply finished it well. The feeling is bitter. I think we had too low a tempo with the ball. We didn’t beat anyone'', PSV’s talent said.
Also coach Peter Bosz looked back on the match with the Fortunezen in an interview with the regional broadcaster. ''Yes, you give away goals. But that is football. Boys lose the ball; that happens now and then. We try to force those mistakes onto the opponent by putting pressure on them. But yes, today we indeed made a lot of mistakes ourselves'', Bosz said after the match.
For PSV, the draw therefore also feels like a loss. ''Today you play a bad match that you have to win, I think. You play those matches more often in a season, and those are the nicest points, but today it just didn't work out,'' says the coach about it.
According to the coach, his team’s game was simply not good enough. “When you play against teams like this, compact sides, people often say the tempo of the ball is too low. Yes, I’ve noticed that too. It’s just not easy to play against teams of this kind. I think we converted too few chances in the first half. It wasn’t good enough,” Bosz said.

Wat me stoort is dat Fernandez eerst denkt aan een derde, daarna zelf meteen het gevoel van zuur benoemt. Dat "we speelden niemand uit" is precies waar PSV in dit soort wedstrijden pijn heeft. Dit voelt voor mij echt als 2 punten verloren, niet 1 gepakt.
Lol voelt als verlies, want PSV speelde "een slechte wedstrijd die je moet winnen". Tbh als je het seizoen zo begint, dan ga je weer weken discussiëren over tactiek en mid-control. Weer zo'n game waarin een voorsprong niet veilig voelt.
2-1 en dan 2-2 in stoppage is gewoon echt... 💀 Michut die binnen schiet na balverlies, dat is textbook hoe je een wedstrijd weggooit. Hopelijk trekt Bosz dit meteen hard door op training.
Idk jongens, ik snap het baltempo verwijt, maar bij Fortuna waren ze ook gewoon super compact. Als je in de eerste helft te weinig kansen uitspeelt, koop je jezelf als PSV geen tijd. Wat mij betreft is dit vooral een afmaken-probleem.
Bosz: "Het baltempo te laag" is logisch, maar het gevaar zit ook in de uitvoering. Als je tegen compacte ploegen te weinig kansen creëert, dan kan je tempo roepen wat je wil. Ik ben benieuwd hoe PSV dit op gaat lossen met creativiteit in de eerste helft. 👀
Michut 2-2 in de stoppage is pure 🤬. Je moet die druk gewoon beter organiseren na balverlies, anders komt het altijd terug. Fortuna is niet eens een topteam, dus dit doet dubbel pijn.
"We speelden niemand uit" zegt alles. Fortuna schoof na balverlies meteen door, en wij lieten ze comfortabel counteren. Dit is echt zo'n wedstrijd waar je achteraf denkt, had je maar eentje meer uitgespeeld... 💀
Noah had een goal die het leek te dragen, maar Bosz is wel eerlijk: we maakten teveel fouten zelf. Als je tegen zo compact voetbal speelt moet je tempo en kansen gewoon afmaken. Vandaag klinkt het echt als niet-agressief genoeg in de eerste helft.
Bosz heeft wel gelijk dat je fouten moet forceren, maar vandaag lag het probleem vooral bij PSV zelf. Ballen verliezen op hun helft, Fortuna snel vooruit, en dan zit je meteen achter de feiten. 👀
"Ik denk dat we een te laag baltempo hadden." Dat hoor je vaak, maar vandaag voelde het ook gewoon alsof ze de bal niet scherp genoeg aan de juiste mensen kregen. Zonde, want kansen genoeg gehad om het af te maken.
Bro, dat "ik had nooit het gevoel dat we er nog een tegen zouden krijgen" is echt pijn als je dan Michut in de blessuretijd ziet gelijkmaken... Tbh dat balverlies op hun helft kwam te vaak terug. 🔥
Fernandez zei echt dat hij geen gevoel had dat er nog een tegengoal kwam... pijnlijk dat Michut in blessuretijd dan toch 2-2 maakt. 🔥 Toch blijft het vreemd dat PSV niemand echt uit durfde te spelen.
