Setback for Ismael Saibari in Munich

A major early setback for Ismael Saibari during his spell at FC Bayern Munich. The midfielder signed from PSV has to miss the training camp of the powerhouse FC Bayern. That also means his debut has been postponed.

Ismael Saibari still has not recovered sufficiently from the injury he suffered during this summer’s World Cup. The Moroccan midfielder, who this summer made the move from PSV to Bayern Munich for 55 million euros, is therefore not traveling with the squad of the German champions to Asia.

Saibari is training separately for the time being. The Moroccan international is doing an individual programme at Bayern Munich’s training complex on Sabenerstrasse. Meanwhile, the Belgium squad under coach Vincent Kompany is on a training camp in Asia for the so-called Audi-Cup, which was previously always completed at the AllianzArena.

The German branch of Sky Sports reports that Saibari has company from Serge Gnabry, Lennart Karl and Jamal Musiala. All of them stay behind in Munich. Since Saibari did not travel to Asia, he will have to postpone his debut for a little longer. Possibly, Saibari will make his debut in the commercial friendly against RB Leipzig on 15 August, or otherwise a week later for the Super Cup against Borussia Dortmund at the Westfalenstadion in Dortmund.
