Satisfaction after the European draw: “In the end, that’s what you want”
1 min readLast Thursday, the draw was held for the UEFA Champions League and PSV was among those paired, including for an away match against FC Porto and Real Madrid. At home, Peter Bosz’s side will face, among others, Atletico Madrid and the strong VfB Stuttgart.
In the most recent episode of the De Rood Wit Podcast, there is at least a positive response to the draw that PSV has. ''What did you think when you saw the draw?'', presenter Jessy Hobbelen asks PSV fan Pascal van der Voort.
Then Van der Voort shares his view on the draw. ''In any case, there are clubs in there that we haven’t had for a long time. So that’s fun. As far as names go, they’re historic clubs'', begins the PSV supporter, referring among others to Real Madrid.
''But immediately a draw with perspective. And in the end, that is what you want'', continues Van der Voort.
''Yes, of course we were also used to it last year, and that was quite a tough draw on paper,'' Hobbelen adds, referring to the time PSV, among others, faced FC Bayern Munich, Liverpool, Napoli, Newcastle United and Atletico Madrid.
Also Tommie van der Leegte speaks out about the draw of this season. ''I really like Real (Madrid). Really great. Of course, that's been a long time ago,'' Van der Leegte refers to the meetings in 1988 and 1989.
About the chances, the former PSV player is also optimistic. ''We’ve already booked a flight ticket and I’m going to Madrid. I just still need to sort out a ticket, but that will work out. So I’m really looking forward to it, because that stadium has also been completely renovated. A great draw and, for the rest, I think you really have a chance. I think you could even go on to collect twelve or thirteen points,'' said the former footballer.

Eens. 12-13 punten is wel ambitieus maar hey, Real, Porto, Atletico, Stuttgart... dat is gewoon banger. Wie zegt dat PSV dit niet aankan? 🔥⚽
"In ieder geval zitten er clubs tussen die we lang niet gehad hebben" ja doei, Real Madrid is gewoon peak motiv." Ik snap dat Tommie daar van smult, 1988-1989 vibe is real. Als ik eerlijk ben is Porto thuis en uit net zo belangrijk als Real, anders wordt het alsnog een grind. ⚽❤️
Tbh twaalf of dertien punten halen klinkt heerlijk, maar dan moet Bosz ook echt geen silly fouten maken tegen ploegen als Atletico en Stuttgart. Real uit is gaaf, maar als je daar punten pakt kan je die rest ook niet weggeven.💯
Tommie zei dat stadion is "helemaal vernieuwd", maar ik zie vooral kansen. Als je al een vliegticket boekt dan verwacht je punten, en 12 of 13 is niet gek als PSV thuis blijft domineren. Porto kan je pakken, Real uit is dan juist het moment.
ik vond de loting echt goated tbh. "Uiteindelijk is dat wel wat je wil" klopt gewoon, want je krijgt meteen top tegenstanders. Alleen die drie thuisduels worden pittig, vooral Stuttgart.
Real Madrid en Porto als uitwedstrijden is wel peak Champions League, maar Atletico en Stuttgart thuis voelt ineens ook als echte test. Als Bosz dit goed leest, kan PSV echt weer verrassen.
Porto en Real is natuurlijk pure madness, maar wel een loting waar je van wakker ligt. Dat "uiteindelijk is dat wat je wil" klopt gewoon, dit is kwaliteit op papier én spektakel op de planning. 👀🔥
