Rik Elfrink understands PSV fans’ concerns about their transfer target: “Maybe it’s also like that.”

Geertruida himself, according to the Eindhovens Dagblad, would also be personally in agreement with PSV, but the German BILD reported this week that the defender may have reservations about a possible transfer to PSV. And Sky Sports Deutschland also brings the message that Ajax has also made an approach for the former Feyenoord player.
In the most recent episode of De Rood Wit Podcast, the situation of Geertruida and the concerns among PSV fans are discussed with PSV watcher Rik Elfrink from Eindhovens Dagblad. Host Jessy Hobbelen then puts the PSV schedule on the table as well, including away matches in the Eredivisie against FC Utrecht and Ajax and the first Champions League match in the week of 7 to 13 September.
''I understand it, of course,'' says Elfrink about the fans' worries over the long wait for Geertruida. ''Those people are worried. Whatever I say: I see it too. Because now Flamingo made a mistake last Saturday against Fortuna,'' continues the PSV watcher.
''And then they say: 'if someone else had been there, who was better, we'd probably have won that match.' So I do understand it and maybe it really is the case as well,'' the journalist continues.
Then Elfrink continues with the financial position of PSV. ''You also have to understand the position PSV is in. You can't just say: 'I'm going to throw twenty million at it and I give that guy a salary of three or four million a year''', the PSV watcher says.
Then the journalist continues about the further costs. ''You just have to work all that out sometime. I mean, this guy probably wants a four- or five-year contract; then you have twenty million in transfer fee, then you probably still have an agent who wants to earn a nice little sum from it and who wants to go on holiday at some point. So then you’re talking about an investment of forty million and if you look at it over five years, then you’re talking about eight or maybe even nine million per year. Those are quite amounts. PSV can only do that in very, very rare cases,'' Elfrink said.

40 miljoen investering naar 8-9 miljoen per jaar is echt bizar als je het zo rekent. Ik vind dat PSV hier voorzichtig moet zijn, maar ngl, een extra verdediger in de CL-voorbereiding is wel pure noodzaak. Hopelijk wint de club de race tegen Ajax en zonder kapot onderhandelen.
De podcastredenering is wel logisch: contractduur van 4 of 5 jaar, makelaar, salaris van 3 of 4 miljoen, en dan zit je aan enorme totalen. Maar ik vind het riskant als PSV te lang wacht, want dan kan Ajax gewoon toeslaan. 🤡
Idk, ik snap zijn financiële punt wel, maar "twintig miljoen opklappen" is niet hetzelfde als investeren in de selectie. Als je later in de competitie puntjes laat liggen door die afwezigheid, wat is dan de echte prijs? 🐐💯
"Misschien is het ook wel zo" vind ik wel scherp van Rik. Maar het probleem is dat PSV nu dingen moet herstellen in de selectie terwijl Ajax en andere clubs ook kunnen prikken. Als BILD en Ajax echt aan de deur komen, dan is dit nog niet klaar. 🔥
🔥 als je PSV hoort praten over 40 miljoen investering... dan zijn we echt klaar met dit spel van wachten. Maar bruh, die tegen Ajax en Utrecht moet je gewoon scherp staan.
Dat deel over PSV die niet ineens 20 miljoen kan smijten is logisch, maar bruh... dan moet je in de zomer ook slim plannen. Anders krijg je zo'n situatie waarin we CL week 7-13 september al in de nek hijgen. 😅
"Misschien is het ook wel zo" klinkt alsof PSV eigenlijk al weet dat Geertruida twijfelt. Als hij persoonlijke bedenking heeft, moet PSV niet gaan forceren. Focus op een plan B is nu echt nodig, Zeker met CL in die week van 7 tot 13 september.
Ajax meldt zich ook, dan ruikt het meteen naar gedoe. Als PSV dit soort bedragen moet doorrekenen (transfer + makelaar + salaris), dan is het logisch dat fans onzeker worden. Toch wel jammer dat de deal zo lang sleept.
Ik snap Elfrink wel, maar als Geertruida echt al akkoord zou zijn dan voelt dit wachten echt als onnodige stress. En als Fortuna-game als bewijs wordt gebruikt, dan moet je die winst gewoon pakken ook met wat er staat. tbh, gewoon doorduwen en klaar.
Tbh als Rik Elfrink zegt dat hij het ook "wel ziet" na die fout van Flamingo tegen Fortuna, dan snap ik de stress. Maar ik hoop dat Geertruida niet gaat twijfelen op basis van fan-geklaag.
