PSV watcher shares expectations: 'There’s a great chance that…'
1 min readPSV now seems to be getting active on the transfer market after all. In recent weeks, the club’s management kept quiet, but now it really looks like action has been taken, and PSV is now busy with, among other things, Lutsharel Geertruida and Kodai Sano.
PSV watcher Tim Reedijk of Voetbal International thinks that the PSV squad for the closing of the transfer window can still be significantly overhauled. Reedijk writes this in VI.
In addition, the reporter also mentions the striker position at PSV. ''Good attention is also paid to the striker spot, after all, it remains to be seen how well Alassane Pléa returns from his serious knee injury. He has shown a variable look during the preparation period, and everyone has complete understanding for that, but PSV wants to be active for a long time across three fronts and, besides Pepi, who it is becoming increasingly plausible that he will stay, needs a good and fit second striker. Pléa’s progress is being closely monitored, and PSV may take advantage of that later on in the transfer market'', the PSV watcher writes.
Reedijk also expects that some players who normally belong to the B team may leave. ''There is a good chance that in the coming five weeks there will be a few incoming and outgoing transfer moves, whether they involve key pillars or the layer below that. Couhaib Driouech is aiming for a season as a regular starter, and PSV cannot offer him that guarantee. He just has to earn many millions in return, expected to be between seven and ten,'' continues the journalist.

In addition, at PSV it is also expected that some talents will develop strongly this season. ''PSV is also aiming for internal follow-up steps. Ruben van Bommel is well on his way back after his ACL injury, but he must be handled with care. However, he is a player who brings PSV something extra when he plays. The 18-year-old Fernandez is also getting plenty of opportunities. And players such as Matej Kovar, Gasiorowski and Wanner are still young; they have had their settling-in period and have set themselves the goal of becoming more important to PSV than they were last season,'' Reedijk said.
Finally, the reporter turns his sights on technical director Earnest Stewart. ''Whether technical director Earnest Stewart is taking the right course is still really nothing sensible to say. Just five weeks to go until Deadline Day on 2 September. On Sunday, his PSV squad will have its first test, immediately with something at stake: the Johan Cruijff Shield against AZ'', concludes the PSV watcher.
