PSV watcher predicts a more difficult 2026/2027: “Pretty quiet all summer long”
1 min readFor PSV, next Saturday at 8 p.m. the new 2026/2027 season in the Eredivisie begins with a home match against Fortuna Sittard. PSV hopes to win the fourth consecutive national title this season.
The past season saw Bosz's team become the earliest ever Eredivisie champions and PSV finished nineteen points behind second-placed Feyenoord. According to PSV watcher Tim Reedijk of Voetbal International, Bosz's team is also this season the favorite for the league title, but Reedijk does not expect it to go as easily this season as it did last season.
That is written by the journalist in Voetbal International. In doing so, Reedijk also points to the fact that Ajax is very active in the transfer market and, after among others presenting Julian Brandt, also introduced Marc-André Ter Stegen this week.
''That Ajax goes all-in on the transfer market, has also been noticed by PSV. And that Feyenoord shows ambition by sacking the coach who made Champions League football possible as well. At PSV, however, it has been fairly quiet throughout the whole summer. After the record sale of Ismael Saibari to Bayern Munich, Sven Mijnans from AZ has been brought in, a player who can seamlessly keep pace at Eredivisie level'', the reporter writes.

Reedijk then discusses the transfer-related turmoil at PSV, where among others Sergino Dest and Joey Veerman previously openly said they were open to a move. ''Joey Veerman and Sergiño Dest would like to leave for abroad, although Veerman told during the training camp that it would not surprise him if he simply stays at PSV. In Marienfeld, Bosz and technical director Earnest Stewart also told that the necessary changes were to be expected up to the national deadline on 2 September'', the journalist continues.
That mutations to the squad are going to happen is evident from the fact that Kodai Sano is now actually on his way to PSV. Earlier, PSV pulled the plug on negotiations with NEC due to the asking price for the Japanese player, but now Sano is indeed on his way to PSV.
This news was confirmed on Tuesday afternoon by Mounir Boualin and Rik Elfrink. In addition, Voetbal International has now reported that an agreement has been reached between PSV and NEC regarding the sale of Sano and that the midfielder will be allowed to call himself a PSV player soon.
The PSV watcher also writes that PSV would like to strengthen its defense at the back, with the names of Filip Kostic and Lutsharel Geertruida being mentioned. ''Filip Kostic (33) has a proposal under consideration, the former player of FC Groningen who broke through as a left winger and, throughout his impressive career, learned to cover the entire left flank. At center back, Lutsharel Geertruida is the dream candidate, a top defender by Eredivisie standards who brings both defensive and footballing qualities with him'', writes Reedijk.
It has now become known that Kostic is also well on his way to putting his signature on a contract with PSV. On Wednesday 5 August, the Serb will undergo a medical check, and that means the left-footed player may quickly call himself a PSV player if everything goes well.
In addition, according to the journalist, an important role is also reserved for coach Peter Bosz to bring hunger back within his squad and to make his team guard against complacency. ''If Bosz can get the price-takers in his squad hungry again, then PSV does indeed seem to be the favorite for the coming season,'' concludes the PSV watcher.

Fortuna thuis moet je winnen, no excuses.
