PSV talent in the spotlight at Curaçao: “I can also understand that some of the boys want to wait a little longer”
1 min readDick Advocaat decided to continue as head coach of Curaçao. Advocaat also made contact with PSV talent Shuryjano Cornecion.
That says the former PSV coach in an interview with NOS. The born Haguenian has made contact with the player of Jong PSV to possibly persuade him to play for the national team of Curaçao.
In addition to Cornecion, contact has also been made with AZ'ers Ro-Zangelo Daal and Elijah Dijkstra. Nevertheless, these three have not yet been active for The Blue Wave, as well as Arsenal player Demiane Agustien.
The coach says he understands their choice and patience. ''We see that players of 21 or 22 years old now choose the Netherlands national team, or they wait until they come into view there. I can also understand that some of the boys still want to wait a little longer,'' the coach says.
Due to the presence of the former PSV coach as coach of the island, Sontje Hansen has decided that she no longer wants to play for The Blue Wave. Advocaat is also quite firm about this there.
''Then you have to leave, because that's how it works in football. He probably thought he should have played more; then he should have just done his best. It's his decision, so I don't really have much trouble with that,'' concludes the born Hagenaar.

Die zin over Jong PSV spelers "overhalen" klinkt mooi, maar uiteindelijk gaat het om speelminuten en ontwikkeling. Als Hansen vond dat hij meer had moeten spelen, dan is dit precies waarom je vroeg moet beslissen. W van mij, Advocaat heeft gelijk daar.
Cornecion voor Curaçao is wel interessant, maar ik wil vooral dat die jongen op veld minuten pakt. Als Hansen niet genoeg speelt en dan stopt, dan is dat echt eigen verantwoordelijkheid. 💀
"Ik kan van sommige jongens ook begrijpen dat ze nog even willen wachten" snap ik wel hoor. Alleen zonde als PSV-talent daardoor Oranje-route kiest of juist blijft twijfelen. 👀 PSV heeft zulke jongens nodig, niet geblokkeerd door keuzes op afstand.
Advocaat talking like a father and still being ruthless tbh. Cornecion, Daal en Dijkstra krijgen dus gewoon geduld, maar bij Hansen is het ineens "dan weggaan". Slim, want anders blijft het eeuwig hangen.
"Ik kan van sommige jongens ook begrijpen dat ze nog even willen wachten" vind ik wel logisch. Maar dat Sontje Hansen gelijk afhaakt, dat ruikt toch naar druk en ego... Advocaat is ook wel lekker hard in zijn oordeel.
Nice that Advocaat connects with Cornecion, that could be huge for PSV's pipeline. Tbh i get the "waiting" part too, but if Curaçao wants them, they have to be clear and proactive.
