PSV talent clear about ambitions

PSV talent Philip Holseter-Karlsen hopes for his breakthrough this season. The talent says so to Eindhovens Dagblad.

The contract of Noor is expiring and Holseter-Karlsen hopes to convince PSV management to extend his contract after all. The 18-year-old midfielder played last weekend on behalf of Jong PSV away to Vitesse in the special Airborne match of the Arnhemmers.

Stijn Schaars’ team ultimately lost 3-1 at the Gelredome. Now the Norwegian speaks to the ED about the fact that he played in front of at least 20,000 people for the first time in his life.

''It is something that gives you an incredible amount of energy. For me it was new, and despite the defeat, a great experience. It wasn’t easy to get something going here as a substitute,'' begins Holseter-Karlsen.

After that, the Norwegian talent continues. ''But I did get motivation from it. Playing for so many spectators is something I want to do much more often in the future, and it gives a lot of motivation. That applies to all players. Jong PSV is an ambitious and great team to develop in. I came to the Netherlands for this kind of matches and opposition,'' the midfielder says.

Last, Holseter-Karlsen still sees a few areas for improvement for himself. ''To be sure, I am big and strong, but I need to defend better, in one-on-one situations. The short sprints can still be improved a lot and I need to use my body properly in the duels. That is exactly what I can learn in the Keuken Kampioen Divisie. In youth matches I am physically one of the strongest players, here one of many,'' concludes the talent.
