PSV signing speaks openly: “I’m being welcomed really well into the group”
1 min readSince 8 August of last month, midfielder Kodai Sano may officially call himself a PSV player, as Sano was presented by the club as a new player. Last Saturday, Peter Bosz also brought the Japanese player on against Excelsior (1-2) and he made a great impression.
Three years ago, the newly signed PSV player from Japan landed at NEC, and at first the midfielder had the necessary adjustment problems. This says the midfielder in an interview with De Telegraaf.
Still, Sano soon felt at home after his arrival in the Netherlands. ''The beginning was difficult. The transition from Japan to the Netherlands was very big and I spoke almost no English. It was a culture shock. At first I did have a bit of homesickness, but before long I felt at home'', says the PSV player.
At NEC, fellow countrymen Koki Ogawa and later Kento Shiogai were also of great value. ''The friendship with Koki and later Kento was very important. And I learned good English, thanks to our teacher Dirk'', Sano tells.

Now the Japanese player speaks good English and at PSV Sano notices that that is very important. ''I would like to make contact with my teammates and the coaches. It is important that I can ask everything about how things work here at PSV, but also about the tactics'', the midfielder says.
In addition, the newly-signed PSV player has been well received by the club. ''I'm taken care of really well in the group,'' says Sano.
Despite this, Sano will never forget his time at NEC and certainly wants to meet up again with his old teammates Ogawa and Phillipe Sandler. ''But Nijmegen isn’t far. If there’s an opportunity, then I’ll certainly arrange to meet with Koki and Philippe'', the Japanese man said.
