PSV investigates Belgian defender, who has also been linked to Feyenoord

PSV has set its sights on Davis Opoku. According to transfer journalist Sacha Tavolieri, the Eindhoven club has enquired about the eighteen-year-old right-back from OH Leuven, although there are currently no concrete negotiations. The Belgian defender was previously also mentioned as a potential reinforcement for Feyenoord.

PSV's interest is for now in a fact-finding stage. The club primarily wants to gain insight into the terms surrounding a possible transfer. Only when Sergiño Dest leaves this summer after all would Opoku come seriously into view as a potential successor.

For now, however, a departure by Dest still seems anything but certain. The American remains tied to Eindhoven until mid-2028 and has a buyout clause of 23 million euros. PSV has already indicated that it sees no need to sell the right-back during this transfer window. Within the club, they are satisfied with his development and sporting value.

You recently still missed the Johan Cruijff Shield against AZ. That had nothing to do with a possible transfer, but everything to do with his physical condition. After his participation in the World Cup with the United States, he later joined the preparations for the squad under Peter Bosz and was not yet match-fit for the season opener. During the global tournament, Dest was a regular fixture, before the Americans were eliminated in the round of 16 by Belgium.

If there is still movement in the coming weeks regarding Dest, then PSV can make the interest in Opoku concrete. The young Belgian has also been on Feyenoord's radar for some time. According to Tavolieri, in De Kuip he is one of the main candidates to replace Givairo Read, should he leave this summer.

Opoku made a strong impression last season at OH Leuven. The right-back played in thirty official matches, provided five assists in them, and also went on to represent multiple Belgian youth teams.
