1 min readSince AZ’s arrival at PSV in early July, Sven Mijnans has had a difficult start in Eindhoven. But he is starting to find his rhythm.
Myans had to make do with a spot on the couch for the first few weeks, but last Sunday he had a dream night with a hat-trick at home against Sparta Rotterdam.
That was also seen by PSV watcher Jeroen Kapteijns of De Telegraaf. In the podcast Kick-off of that same newspaper, Kapteijns clearly makes it known that he is impressed by the qualities that the midfielder has.
In addition, the journalist believes that the newcomer this season will still get the necessary minutes from coach Peter Bosz. “Myans was of course great. They’re going to play so many matches and there will undoubtedly be more injuries. Sven Mijnans is now a bit of the number twelve, but he really will still play a lot,” the PSV watcher says.
Next, attention is drawn to Guus Til. Til came to PSV in the summer of 2022 and, especially since the arrival of Peter Bosz, plays a more important role in Eindhoven.
Not everyone saw that coming, Kapteijns knows as well. ''Everyone also thought that Guus Til wouldn’t play much under Peter Bosz, but at the end of the season he had about the most matches of anyone,'' the reporter says about it.
''These kinds of guests are going to get a lot of playing time because of their fitness and because of their versatility. And also because they have an enormous amount of drive. He really played a very good match against Sparta'', according to the PSV watcher.

Still dont buy the "Til wont play" narrative van vorig jaar, die jongen was al klaar. Maar goed, als Mijnans dezelfde rol krijgt dan hebben we echt diepte op het middenveld, w. V. 🐐
Til getting "most matches" under Bosz is the reason i trust this duo. Tbh it was obvious he fits the system better than some people expected. W.
Kapteijns zegt het mooi: fitheid, multifunctioneel en drive. Bij Guus Til zie je precies dat patroon, hij doet net te veel voor Bosz om te laten liggen. 👏
"nummer twaalf" is a bit unfair, because players like this often become the most dangerous late-game sub. If Mijnans stays fit, he will keep pushing for a starting spot.
I still think Mijnans is not a full starter yet, but the Sparta game proves he can impact matches fast. If Bosz rotates, he will get plenty of minutes anyway.
That quote about "multifunctionaliteit" is exactly why PSV should like both Mijnans and Til. They can cover roles without looking lost. 👀
