Praise for PSV celebration on the stands: “They really kept supporting us to the very end”
1 min readPSV experienced a painful evening last Sunday at the Philips Stadium against AZ during the match for the Johan Cruijff Shield. Peter Bosz’s team were down to ten men within ten minutes after a red card for Joey Veerman, and in the end they lost 0-4.
Despite that, the atmosphere among the PSV supporters was good. That was also noticed by newcomer Sven Mijnans.
''Yes, I was also quite surprised by it myself. They really kept supporting us until the end. I walked around there and really had to look around for a moment. So they also saw that a card really has an effect, but that we did everything against AZ. That gives a good feeling going into next week against Fortuna Sittard. A very small plaster on the wound,'' Mijnans says afterwards to Sportnieuws.nl.
The purchase goes deeper into the match against his former club. ''We played well in the first half and we created some chances. It's a shame that the match then went so unfortunately. After the break it was already 0-2 too quickly. Then it becomes difficult,'' says the midfielder.
So a happy debut it certainly was not for the attacking midfielder. ''When you lose 0-4, the mood is always bad, but we did finish it off with the fact that it will be a season in which you all want to win. That’s something we need to realize. There is quality in the squad, but we have to keep working at it relentlessly,'' said Mijnans.

I like the attitude from Mijnans, but lets not pretend the tactics were fine. After losing early man, you still cant let it become "te snel 0-2" without a clear plan. Hopefully Bosz tweaks it fast for Fortuna.

Red card for Veerman after 10 minutes and then 0-2 at halftime, thats such a killer combo. Tbh Mijnans is right, after that you need to slow the game down, not go all-in straight away. 👀
Ik snap Mijnans wel, maar die kaart voor Veerman maakte alles kapot. Binnen 10 minuten 1-0 echt kansloos spelmoment, en dan wordt 0-2 na rust idd te snel. Hele kleine pleister maar helaas.
Man, that Philips Stadion sfeer after 0-4 is honestly respect. Mijnans saying "Ze bleven ons echt steunen tot het einde" feels real, you could hear it even when AZ took control. 🔥
