Playing time | The current status around Kodai Sano
1 min readKodai Sano is still not officially a player of PSV. That is because some delays have arisen after the necessary paperwork. Match minutes against Fortuna Sittard therefore also do not seem to be on the cards for the Japanese playmaker. That those minutes will make an appearance in the coming days is clear.
Sano reported to Eindhoven last Wednesday for the medical test, but even on Friday afternoon he still could not be presented as a new player of PSV. No white smoke is expected around the Japanese playmaker either on Saturday. Clubwatcher Rik Elfrink of Eindhovens Dagblad reports several facts.
What happened all throughout the past day? PSV reached an agreement on Tuesday with N.E.C. over Sano, who will be making the move to PSV for roughly 14.5 million euros. This amount is excluding bonuses. The Japanese player left immediately from the players' hotel of the Nijmegen side in Greece, where the team coached by Dick Schreuder was preparing for the confrontation with Olympiakos Piraeus in the Champions League qualifying round.
Filip Kostic was announced as a new PSV player on the same day as Sano, but whereas the Serb has already been introduced by the club for some time now, things have been quiet around Sano ever since. What exactly is going on?

"Sano is medically approved. Around PSV, it sounds like there are still a few matters to wrap up. The deal is not in danger, as can also be heard. People hope to have everything in place as soon as possible (tonight or tomorrow). There is some patience required in this regard. And a work permit. 'Netherlands, a country of regulations,' they sometimes say. Doesn't have to take long, but it is a formality that goes along with it", Rik Elfrink said after several questions from different PSV fans.

Brilliant intensity but i still wonder about the finishing. We create like crazy and then it gets a bit mid in the box. Give me one or two early chances converted and thats a wrap. 💯
Eens, de quote over het 'domineren van het midden' klopt wel. Maar ik zie ook dat ze kansen verspeelden toen ze het veld breed genoeg hielden. Geef ze nog 2% beslissendheid, en dit wordt een banger. 🚀
"Inside" is key but tbh PSV must keep the balance when the fullbacks go forward. If the quote is that they can dominate everywhere, that usually ends up with a sloppy transition goal. Need more control in the 2nd phase. 🔥
Bruno is echt een verschilspeler geweest in de laatste wedstrijden, maar ik vind dat hij soms net te gretig speelt in de half-space. Verlies je bal daar en Ajax-achtig speel je jezelf kapot, dus ik wil wat meer rust. 💯
If PSV really want to press like that in the middle, they need Gakpo and Tillman tracking runners, otherwise it turns into open space behind them. Not saying its bad, just feels risky early on. 👀
"PSV Inside" zeg je, maar waar is de basis voor de volgende stap? Als de backs te hoog staan zonder diepte in de machine, dan ruik je al counters. 🔥
Ik hoop dat PSV dit tempo volhoudt, want met hun pressing op het juiste moment breken ze elke opbouw. 👀 Toch ben ik benieuwd hoe ze omgaan met die eerste pass door het midden, daar valt winst of verlies.
