Peter Bosz lyrically: “I hope he will play a beautiful and big role for PSV in the future.”

PSV lost convincingly last Sunday the season opener against AZ (0-4) in the race for the Johan Cruijff Shield. Bosz saw that his game plan could already be tossed in the trash within ten minutes, since Joey Veerman had to go off in minute 9 after a red card.

Before the start of the match, the coach ESPN was spoken to. There, Bosz spoke highly of newcomer Sven Mijnans, who thus experienced a painful official debut against his former club.

''I hope that he is going to play a beautiful and big role for PSV in the future. I have seen him at work for a little month now and I basically see what we already knew: he’s a good kid and also definitely a good footballer'', Bosz said in advance about Mijnans.

The practice coach believes that the midfielder has the necessary qualities to be successful at PSV. ''He wants to work hard and get better, so that's all very positive. I want to bring him into his strength as much as possible,'' the coach continues.

Also the versatility of Mijnans can receive a great deal of praise from Bosz. ''He is a boy who can do a lot—he can get on the ball and also appear in the box in time. He can also score and has a good assist in his legs. In short, a versatile player'', said the PSV coach.

"Thrown in the bin within ten minutes" is exactly what it felt like. I actually like the idea of Mijnans, he runs hard and can arrive in the box, but we must protect the midfield better when Veerman is sent off. 👀

Bosz saying "beautiful and big role" is sweet but AZ taught us a lesson fast. Mijnans looked like he'd be useful on paper, yet in this match we got overwhelmed. Need intensity from minute 1, not after the red... 🔥

Joey Veerman red card in the 9th minute basically killed any chance of the plan. Still, calling Sven Mijnans "versatile" makes sense, but with PSV conceding 4 I need to see more fight and control, not just praise.
