Peter Bosz impressed by newly appointed PSV player: ‘Also brings aggression into the team’

1 min read

Peter Bosz spoke positively after the match Excelsior - PSV (1-2) about newcomer Kodai Sano. Sano started Saturday evening against the Rotterdammers on the bench, but was allowed to come on in the second half for Paul Wanner.

The Japanese player made a good impression on Bosz, and the training coach praises the midfielder after the match in conversation with Eindhovens Dagblad. According to Bosz, there was also a big difference noticeable when Sano came on.

''He can defend forward, anticipate well, and has a lot of footballing ability. He also brings aggression to the team to win duels. Kodai can play football extremely well and also helps others play better again'', the coach says of the newly signed PSV player.

In the first half, Bosz was not entirely satisfied, but in the second half he saw, at times, something of the PSV from previous seasons again. The coach was also pleased with the defense, despite the fact that Ryan Flamingo was easily outplayed at the 1-1 by Excelsior.

Bosz speaks about the equalizer. ''With that equal goal we don't look good. I thought Ricardo has to do more there and maybe Ryan isn't quite right either. In addition, I think we defended pretty well tonight. If we have the ball well, we also relieve our defense,'' said the coach.

"Hij brengt ook agressiviteit in de ploeg om duels te winnen." That line is why Sano should get more minutes. Second half looked closer to the PSV from the good years, more bite and better football 🚀

Bosz on the own goal: "Ricardo daar meer moet doen" and Ryan maybe not fully right. fair points, but i want to see how we set the pressing so those situations dont even happen 🤬.

Unpopular opinion: the first half sounded too shaky again. Also, Flamingo getting beaten for the 1-1... Bosz says he is satisfied with the defense, but imo we still need to fix those moments 👀.

I like what Bosz said about Sano being able to defend forward. If he can bring duels AND still play, that means more control in possession and less pressure on the backline.

Bosz calling Sano aggressive to win duels is exactly what we needed in midfield. Wenners on the bench but then he changes the game, thats peak management by Bosz 🔥🐐.
