Peter Bosz defends colleague coach: "That guy has quality."
1 min readPeter Bosz was a benevolent coach on Sunday afternoon, since PSV managed to win 1-6 away at FC Utrecht despite an early goal conceded. After the match, Bosz also had kind words for his fellow coach Anthony Correia of the Domstedelingen.
Afterwards, PSV’s current training master heard that Correia had already received questions about his future in Utrecht. According to the Apeldoorn native, it is still far too early to draw conclusions of that kind.
Bosz said that to reporter Leo Oldenburger of ESPN. ''I was standing here waiting for a moment and I heard you ask a question to my colleague: 'Are you still firmly in the saddle?', something like that. Then I think: come on, guys, come on, man! We’re four matches in and that guy has quality'', the PSV coach tells the camera of ESPN.
The Utrecht side have picked up only one point after four duels in the 2026/2027 season, but according to Bosz, his colleague on the other side has enough qualities. ''He got Telstar promoted and they stayed in the Eredivisie with it. You’re a journalist, so you’ll probably have to ask those things, but then I think: wow. They hired this man with full intent and had him help to put the squad together and determine the way of playing football. Thankfully I don’t hear that from Utrecht itself, but that people are considering whether they shouldn’t part ways with him,'' the PSV coach says.
At the press conference after the match, the position of Correia was also discussed. ''We are on our way through four matches,'' Bosz again vented.
In addition, the current PSV coach also points to his own past as coach of, among others, Borussia Dortmund and Olympique Lyonnais. ''I say this because I’ve experienced it myself very often and I know how annoying that is. You’re left with a horrible feeling because you’ve lost and then you also have to answer questions like this. I always hated that. It’s not fair. Give that man time'', concludes Bosz.

I like the message, but tbh i still want PSV to be ruthless too. We saw Utrecht collapse, so its funny that Bosz is calm about someone else getting pressure when the results are this bad.
Bosz haalt z'n eigen ervaringen aan bij Dortmund en Lyon, dat voelt wel oprecht. Tbh, ik vind het sterker dat hij ook tijdens winnen toch die discussie afremt, al zal de druk bij Utrecht niet zomaar verdwijnen.
"We are four wedstrijden onderweg" ... yeah exactly. Give the coach time, or you end up changing system every week. PSV will be the example of doing it smarter.
Telstar laten promoveren en in de Eredivisie blijven, daar zat bewijs in. Maar ngl, als resultaten blijven haperen gaat Utrecht toch niet kunnen wachten... wel mooi dat Bosz hem tijd gunt. 🔥
Die opmerking over "Zit je nog stevig in het zadel?" is brutaal van ESPN-tkant, man. Bosz heeft gelijk dat zoiets na 4 duels al je focus wegneemt.
"We zijn vier wedstrijden onderweg" snap ik wel, maar Utrecht zit natuurlijk ook in een rare fase. Al vind ik het wél opmerkelijk hoe makkelijk ze al over toekomst gaan, zeker als de club zelf hem erbij gehaald heeft voor selectie en speelwijze.
Bosz is right imo, four games is literally nothing. If Utrecht already starts talking about sack talk, thats just bad management even when they are 1 point in four.
The way Bosz defended Correia is peak leadership. Also, 1-6 away after a fast goal is not something you do by accident, so i get why he says "these questions are too early".
1-6 na een vroege tegengoal en dan ook nog Correia verdedigen, Bosz is echt in z'n rol. Zeker als hij zegt dat het te vroeg is na vier wedstrijden... geeft toch vertrouwen. 👀
