Peter Bosz clear about Ajax
1 min readPeter Bosz is looking forward to the clash between Ajax and PSV on Saturday evening at 8 p.m. at the Johan Cruijff Arena. Bosz, as coach of PSV, has never won in Amsterdam and hopes to change that now.
Ahead of this top clash, the current PSV coach held the weekly press conference on Friday afternoon. There Bosz said that he and Jordi Cruijff were going to grab a bite to eat when Cruijff became technical director at Ajax.
As a TD in Amsterdam, the son of the legendary Johan fished out one player after the other. ''This drive to do things had already been announced by Jordi. When he went to Ajax, I called him and arranged to have a bite to eat together. We did that in Amsterdam. But it actually wasn’t even very much about which players he was looking at. Not at all. It was simply about football and about the families, about everything. But it is true that he said that something was going to happen. And let’s be honest: it had to. Continuing along the lines of the past few years was not an option. It hasn’t been good enough,'' says Bosz, quoted by Voetbal International.
The coach of PSV also finds it difficult to say how good this Ajax side will be compared to last season, when the Amsterdammers finished a street-length behind title winners PSV. ''There are also many players with them who were signed in the end, who will perhaps play at some point. Ajax is now playing a bit differently than last season. With a different intention, more forward. I only think that's great. Tomorrow we're going to play them and then we'll see. The fact that it can all go very quickly—that's something we proved with PSV in my first year. We immediately won the first seventeen matches and became champions'', says the born Apeldoorner.

Despite the major metamorphosis in Amsterdam, Bosz believes that PSV still has the best squad in the Eredivisie. ''I think that in the end we came out just fine with it. I think we have again put together a very good squad. In training, I see pure quality, and that’s really what you’re looking for as a coach. So I’m very satisfied with the final outcome. Results in matches are not always the deciding factor for me. Because I know that if we train well and keep doing that consistently, the result will come of its own. If I see that my players give their all, and we have the qualities—everyone knows that—then it will always come out one way or another. As far as I can judge, I think we have the best squad in the Netherlands. But a championship is never guaranteed. That’s what makes sport so much fun,'' the coach says.
Also, the coach shares more about newcomer Lutsharel Geertruida, who this season has not yet been in the starting lineup at PSV since his move on a loan deal from RB Leipzig. ''He’s doing really well in training, so yes, he’s an option for the starting lineup,'' Bosz said.
