Partner of Orange candidate speaks out: “It looks great on the golf course.”
1 min readTruus van Gaal, the wife of football coach Louis van Gaal, has said that there are currently no discussions taking place between her husband and the KNVB. Truus tells RTL Boulevard this.
De Telegraaf in fact brought out the news on Monday morning that Van Gaal would be willing to hold talks with the football association about a possible fourth spell as national team coach of the Netherlands. The KNVB is still busy looking for someone after Ronald Koeman stepped down.
''According to me, Louis recently told someone that the KNVB can always call him. Apparently, that has taken on a life of its own. Nothing is going on at the moment and Louis is enjoying himself out on the golf course'', says Truus.
According to VI journalist Martijn Krabbendam, former PSV player Michael Reiziger still counts as the dream candidate for the KNVB and on Monday afternoon the football magazine came out with the revelation that Reiziger would have spoken ahead of the match PSV - AZ with Nigel de Jong and Clarence Seedorf. Reiziger is currently national team coach of Jong Oranje and, after Arne Slot dropped out, he appears to be the main candidate to succeed Koeman.
Besides Reiziger, another former PSV player was also mentioned by VI as a possible option. No less than Ruud van Nistelrooij would, according to the football outlet, be a candidate at the KNVB.

Eens, als Koeman weg is moet je niet blijven wachten op Louis. Reiziger lijkt cap based on links met Seedorf en De Jong, maar ik hoop stiekem dat hij bij Jong Oranje blijft. 🐐⚽
"Louis staat heerlijk op de golfbaan" 🤡 idk jongens, ik zie hem echt geen midden in de zomer volgaan met onderhandelingen. ondertussen blijft het zoeken, en wij als fans draaien op geruchten.
Ruud van Nistelrooij wordt ook genoemd... tbh vind ik dat te veel schoenmakerspraat. Reiziger heeft tenminste de jeugd en ontwikkeling, dat past beter bij knvb op dit moment.
Reiziger talking with Seedorf and Nigel de Jong for PSV-AZ... that feels like a real inside-track for the KNVB job 👀. If he has the credibility with the PSV generation and Jong Oranje results, why not. Still, Van Nistelrooij getting mentioned too shows they are casting a wide net, not confident in one clear choice.
if Reiziger echt met De Jong en Seedorf heeft gepraat voor PSV-AZ, dat klinkt toch als voetbaldenken in de familie. ben benieuwd of Jong Oranje-ervaring echt helpt bij de druk van Oranje.
"Er speelt niets op dit moment" snap ik wel, maar die golfbaan zin is ook wel typisch van Louis. toch blijft knvb natuurlijk zoeken en dan kan het ineens snel gaan.
truus zegt gewoon niks aan de hand, mooi zo. maar als knvb weer gaat hannesen met kandidaten dan wil ik eerlijk gezegd reiziger liever als psv optie dan als noodplan.
I dont get why people keep dragging Van Gaal into this. Truus is basically saying there is nothing going on, and the KNVB is already looking for a successor after Koeman. Reiziger as the dream candidate makes more sense, especially with the Seedorf and de Jong link.
"Staat heerlijk op de golfbaan" is echt Louis in een nutshell lol. Maar eerlijk, als de KNVB hem echt nodig had, hadden ze allang wat concreets. En meanwhile spreken ze wel over Reiziger bij PSV-AZ, daar zit toch meer vuur ⚽😂
