On the debut it sounds: “€60 million is far too little.”

1 min read

Mike Verweij is certain that Ruben van Bommel will one day be bought out by PSV for a record fee. Verweij says so in the podcast Kick-off from De Telegraaf.

Van Bommel made his debut for the Netherlands national team last Thursday as a substitute for Crysencio Summerville. The PSV player was immediately of great value thanks to a fantastic assist in stoppage time to former PSV player Cody Gakpo.

That prevented a defeat for the new national team coach, Xavi Hernandez. Afterwards, it mainly came down to the assist from PSV’s left winger.

Journalist Mike Verweij is also lyrical. ''Fantastic. When you come on in minute 83 and have so much impact. I think we’ve talked about it before. He’s really the kind of player that makes you think again: wow,'' the reporter from De Telegraaf says, full of praise.

Moreover, Verweij thinks that Van Bommel is going to be better than Gakpo and that in the future there will be a club that puts a record amount of money on the table for the winger. ''€60 million is far too little; I think he will leave for €80 million from PSV. I think he has more conditions than Gakpo. I think he is going to get even better than Gakpo,'' the journalist said.

Nevertheless, colleague Valentijn Driessen does not think that the PSV player will already win a starting place in the Oranje of Xavi any time soon. ''I don't think so. I don't think Gakpo would like to play as a striker or on the right wing. Then you would make the attacking leader of the past four years subservient to a guy who has just come on the scene'', concludes Driessen.

Toch: die assist in blessuretijd was echt wauw. 🚀

The assist in injury time for Gakpo was nuts.
