NOS analysts praising former PSV player: “He played great.”
1 min readFormer PSV player Noa Lang fell on Thursday during Greece - Netherlands. Lang came on in the second half for Ruben van Bommel.
Despite a 2-0 deficit at halftime, the Netherlands national team managed to fight back to 2-2 and thereby avoid a defeat. Afterwards, NOS analysts Wim Kieft and Rafael van der Vaart praised the substitute appearance by the former PSV player.
Kieft also points to the differences with Cody Gakpo and Ruben van Bommel. ''Lang brought a lot. What I always have a little against Lang is that he always goes toward his right foot. That was important today. Cody Gakpo or Ruben van Bommel sometimes like to go outside. Lang does have a lot of feel in his feet. When he’s on a roll, he has a lot of flair and he’s threatening. Today he was needed, because the room to go out wide was much less. A lot of threat came from his deliveries'', the former PSV player says in the NOS studio after the match.
Van der Vaart shares the opinion of the former striker. ''He can do more than Gakpo and Van Bommel in the small space. They need a bit more room, even though they are almost impossible to stop when they’re in full flow'', says the former midfielder.
Earlier the analyst was already positive about Lang and also about substitute Tijani Reijnders. ''He played brilliantly and Tijjani Reijnders was top, so then as a coach you’ve just handled it properly. Even though you started hopelessly'', said Van der Vaart.

Gakpo en Van Bommel vragen inderdaad meer ruimte, dat zegt Van der Vaart ook. Tbh was het vooral slim van de coach om Lang in te brengen bij minder buitenspel. En als Reijnders ook "top" is, dan heb je als geheel gewoon momentum gepakt. 👀
"Hij speelde geweldig" is wel lekker hoor, maar ik wil wel zien hoe vaak dit niveau bij Lang echt haalbaar is. Toch klopt het verhaal van Kieft over die rechtervoet en dat gevoel in de voeten. Als hij op dreef is, is het echt gevaarlijk.
Eerlijk, Kieft en Van der Vaart hebben hier wel gelijk. Noa Lang die dreiging via voorzetten brengt, dat zie je niet vaak als hij bij PSV-gevoel in de wedstrijd zit. 🔥
"Hij speelde geweldig" daar sluit ik me bij aan, echt een verschilmaker als het ruimtes dicht zitten. En ik vond Reijnders ook top, goed dat ze als coach zo omzetten na 2-0. 2-2 was zuur voorkomen, maar Lang hielp enorm.
Kieft zegt het scherp: Gakpo en Van Bommel zoeken vaker de buitenkant, terwijl Lang met minder ruimte alsnog kan slopen. Wel benieuwd hoe lang hij dat kan volhouden op niveau, want een voorspelbare route blijft riskant.
Tbh die analyse klopt wel, Lang ging inderdaad vaak naar zijn rechter, maar als het werkt maakt het niet uit. Meteen dreiging en voorzetten, heerlijk. 🔥
