Newly baked Ajax fan praises Peter Bosz but fears PSV
1 min readAhead of Ajax - PSV on Saturday, September 5, Ajacied Julian Brandt looks ahead to this fixture in an interview with ESPN. For the German midfielder, the match against PSV is also a reunion with PSV coach Peter Bosz.
Bosz and Brandt worked together for half a season at Bayer 04 Leverkusen in the 2018/2019 season. Under the current PSV coach, Die Werkself managed to qualify for the Champions League on the final matchday of the Bundesliga.
In conversation with ESPN, the German midfielder looks ahead to the meeting with PSV. In addition, the Ajax player, who according to De Telegraaf could also go to PSV, also speaks highly of Bosz.
''We have a good connection'', the German says when he is asked about the connection he has with Bosz. Still, the newly arrived Ajax player is also wary and on his guard. Brandt had already indicated a few weeks ago that he was afraid of PSV’s arrival at the Johan Cruijff Arena. 'They are leading in the Netherlands, they’ve been the best for three years in a row, so we need to see what we, as Ajax, can put up against that—especially with Peter Bosz at the helm', said the Ajax player who arrived from Dortmund.

Then the former German international continues. ''What can I say? I really think this guy is great. He’s an amazing coach. He’s a great person. He’s just a nice guy,'' Brandt continues.
Next, the qualities of the coach are discussed. ''I had a fantastic year with him, and I know what he is capable of as a coach. He also showed that here in the Netherlands over the past three years. It’s always nice to see him. And I really look forward to seeing him. But of course, it’s between two opponents who both want to win. So it’s really a typical football match with a few nice extras'', the midfielder concludes.
Peter Bosz himself was also reminded during the press conference on Friday afternoon, ahead of Ajax - PSV, of the reunion with Brandt. ''I always enjoy running into people you’ve worked with. It was half a year; then he went to Dortmund, but it was a very good half-year. If people ask me what types and qualities I look for, I always say technique and football intelligence. He has those two qualities,'' Bosz says, as quoted by Voetbal International.

Not sure i agree with the selection in this setup. Without a proper 6, Luuk style hold-up is pointless because the lines are too far apart, and Ajax-style counters will punish that.
Goal!! if the winger actually cuts inside more often. Right now they keep getting isolated 1v1 and then everyone watches the cross like its magic 🔥⚽
I think the tactical tweak is good, but fr, dont waste chances early. If we score first, the whole game opens up, if not then it becomes that annoying chess match 🤡.
"Inside PSV" makes me optimistic about the way they read the second ball, but i worry about the midfield balance. Joey V., if he is not screening, it feels like we get overrun in waves 😅.
"PSV's inside game" is nice and all, but bruh, if the tempo drops after the first pass, Ajax-style pressure ruins it. Need quicker support angles or it becomes predictable. 💀
If PSV go with that same high press again, Memphis has to track back because the spaces behind are brutal. Otherwise its gonna be a transition festival against us.
Not convinced by the wing selection. The article saying they were aiming to stretch play is true, but when the wide man is too static, the full-back ends up defending two lanes instead of one. Tbh i'd rather see the other winger cut inside earlier to create those box entries. 🙄
If PSV really went with that midfield setup, i get the idea, but it leaves space behind the pivot way too often. With Sangare doing that cover, the rest of the chain has to be perfect or it turns into chaos at transitions. 🔥
