NEC points to PSV

In the hunt for a ticket to the UEFA Champions League group stage, NEC on Wednesday evening at home lost 1-3 to Norwegian side FK Bodø/Glimt and as a result the team of Dick Schreuder faces a tough task during the return match next week in Norway. Midfielder Darko Nejasmic also sees that next week will be a tough job, but despite that he is not conceding defeat yet.

Nejasmic emphasized to the camera of Ziggo Sport that Nijmegen Eendracht Combinatie did not achieve the desired result, but nevertheless talks about a special evening. For the first time, the Champions League anthem could be heard in De Goffert stadium.

''It was absolutely a special evening, yes. You saw the match. The result isn't what we wanted, but this is only the first half. We'll do everything we can to be better in the next match and to score more goals'', says the Croat after the match.

Then reporter and commentator Wytse van der Goot asks about the level of Bodø/Glimt and raises the suggestion that the Norwegians might be a bit too big for NEC, but Nejasmic is not willing to go along with that and also points to PSV. ''I wouldn’t say that. In our league we also have PSV, Ajax, good teams. Today the result didn’t go our way. We have to be better. I wouldn’t say that we didn’t create chances. We just need to be more clinical. Today they got three, four chances and scored, we didn’t'', that’s what the Croat thinks.

Despite the defeat, the Champions League midfielder enjoyed the anthem and hopes for a good NEC during the return in Norway. ''The Champions League gives a special feeling, especially when you hear that sound. But I want to give it a bit more time. I stay positive. We'll go there with our heads held high,'' concludes Nejasmic.
