Kodai Sano immediately feels especially welcome at PSV, thanks to one player.

1 min read

PSV has purchased Kodai Sano with class and quality. We can draw that conclusion by now after the Japanese player's stint in Rotterdam. Sano started on the bench but, as a rule, should soon be playing in the starting lineup.

Kodai Sano will provide Peter Bosz's team with a significant boost in quality. In addition, the Japanese player seems to already feel at ease at PSV. The midfielder said this on Saturday evening after his debut against Excelsior. In particular, Guus Til would have played a positive role there. It turned out to be especially Guus Til who made an effort to welcome the Japanese player.

The 22-year-old Sano made the switch from N.E.C. to PSV last week, which, it is reported, pays a base amount of at least €14.5 million for the Japanese player. With bonuses, that figure could even rise further to around €17 million. That is significantly less than the €18 to €20 million NEC demanded for the new international.

Saturday evening, Sano made his first playing minutes for PSV. The midfielder came on against Excelsior after more than an hour as a substitute for Paul Wanner. The final score had already been reached at that point, where the Japanese player could just as easily have scored twice.

After the match, Sano lets it be known that he was well looked after at PSV. "Everyone is open and kind to me. It is not difficult to talk with the players and the coach. I felt welcome", he said to Eindhovens Dagblad. "Til Guus was I think the first one who tried to make real contact. Of course I already knew him and many other players from the matches, but you don’t really make contact there", says Sano.

Til is goed bezig met die rol, keep it up.

Love to see this kind of arrival vibe. If Guus Til is already taking the lead off the pitch, that usually helps the new midfielder settle quicker. Hope Sano can start building rhythm fast with the pressing.
