Kees Jansma was devastated during 1–4 and 1–5 PSV in Utrecht, but how would Sjaak Swart have been sitting in the stands?
1 min readNo, Sjaak Swart didn’t feel like the farewell honor guard of Ajax for PSV in the spring of 2026. Swart just wasn’t up for that. “Very proper, big compliment to the entire Ajax club,” said both PSV icons Willy and Renin in the Willy & René Podcast of Omroep Brabant the day after the 2-2 in the Johan Cruijff Arena.
In the week after Ajax - PSV from the 2026-2027 season, it actually becomes apparent a week later that Sjaak Swart has not stirred at all. Before that, Swart still went on a tirade about the match and about who, according to him, would become national champion, but after that we haven’t heard from Swart anymore.
“That’s also part of football, even if you are each other’s biggest competitors. If they become champions and they come to us, then we’ll do that too,” continues Willy van de Kerkhof, who at the time then cynically noted: “As captain, I should have taken the championship trophy along as well. I would have shown it to the public for a moment. It’s been so long since they’ve seen it", Willy and René said just after last season’s edition in the media.
Despite a few whistle concerts from the stands, many supporters applauded. The Ajax supporters who were sitting around Willy van de Kerkhof all “applauded politely for PSV.” One man was an exception: “Sjaak Swart. He stayed standing completely still,” the Van de Kerkhof brothers laughed at the time.

''Ah. PSV has all the luck in the world. Really. They’ve played against opponents.. Well... they wanted to score everything into their own goal. Terrible'', continued Mister Ajax with his preview of last Saturday’s match at the Johan Cruijff Arena. 'We’re not ten times champions for nothing than PSV, you know. Just so you know. So you don’t get confused. That you put PSV in one position'', said Swart.
Well, PSV won as you no doubt know there in Amsterdam and, for the second time this season, really made itself at home in an away match against a top club. Earlier, PSV already won away at FC Utrecht with 1-6, although Sjaak Swart said that Utrecht shot the balls into their own goal against PSV, but putting that to one side.
According to Wim Kieft, FC Utrecht commissioner Kees Jansma was quite distraught about PSV's goals at Stadion Galgenwaard. Kieft brought this up again this past week, in the week after Ajax - PSV, because the former PSV player also happened to be a guest in Stadion Galgenwaard during FC Utrecht - PSV. 'Kees raised his hands in front of his eyes at PSV's 1-4 and 1-5', said Kieft. Still, at the same time we wonder how Sjaak Swart looked at Ajax - PSV.... it was namely so quiet during the past week around Swart....
