Thanks in part to a strong cameo from PSV player Ruben van Bommel, who was responsible for the assist on the 1-1 by Cody Gakpo in stoppage time, a defeat was prevented for debuting national team coach Xavi Hernandez as well. Van Bommel came on in the 83rd minute for Crysencio Summerville and had an excellent debut.
Klopp was also impressed. After the match at the Johan Cruijff Arena, the head coach of Die Mannschaft said he was impressed by the assist that PSV wing attacker gave to Gakpo.

The fact he came on at 83 and directly created the equaliser tells me his timing is exceptional. Also funny how all the papers link it to family, but on the pitch it was just quality execution. PSV should be proud, but Germany also had opportunities to win it.
Klopp going "not from his father" is jokes lol, but the execution was spot on. outside of the foot, perfect timing, and Gakpo actually attacked the space. Ruben might be a late sub, but he plays like a starter.

Impressive debate already, but lets be real: Van Bommel was the difference. 83rd minute impact and an assist like that straight to the second post is instant trust for PSV fans. If Germany keep Ruben in the radar, this wont stay a one-off.
i get the hype, but Xavi Hernandez debuts too and you can still see some structure issues. still, 1-1 saved is massive, and van Bommel looks like a real difference maker off the bench 💯

That assist from Ruben van Bommel in stoppage time was unreal 🔥 Gakpo finished it perfectly, but the outside-of-the-foot touch from Ruben is the real highlight. Klopp saying it "had he not from his father" is so funny, but tbh it was pure quality.
