Johan Derksen lyrical about PSV player: “That was the perfect cross.”
1 min readLast Thursday, Ruben van Bommel made his debut for Oranje. Van Bommel was immediately on the scoresheet with an assist against Germany (1-1).
Thanks to this assist by Cody Gakpo, a defeat on the debut of national team coach Xavi Hernandez was avoided. After the match, much was said and written about the way the PSV player set up the ball for Gakpo.
Johan Derksen was also impressed by the assist Van Bommel gave. Derksen says so in the program Today Inside.
There, former PSV player René van der Gijp shared his take on the Netherlands - Germany match. ''I saw the first half. I watched the second half back a bit. I thought it was a nice match. It has the name Nations League, but it’s just friendly football. If those guys go back to their clubs... they really did their best, man. They covered a lot of ground,'' says Van der Gijp.
Then Derksen comes in and the assist by Van Bommel is discussed. ''I have never seen such a beautiful outside of the foot right-foot cross like that ball from Van Bommel. That was the perfect cross. You can't miss that'', is De Snor at his lyrical best.
Then Van der Gijp steps in. ''The lame thing is: if he misses him, we don't talk about it'', says the Dordrecht analyst.
Journalist Martijn Krabbendam from Voetbal International then points out that Johan Cruijff also played many balls with the outside of the right foot, after which Derksen responds. ''It’s a fantastic pass. Cruijff was top-class, but this guy at this age, who is already doing it too'', concludes the bearded analyst.

Die assist tegen Duitsland was echt peak, buitenkant rechtervoet is altijd risico maar hij legt hem heerlijk. Als dit niveau bij de PSV-druk ook lukt dan ben je Ruben voorin goud waard. 🚀🐐
lol die opmerking "Nations League maar vriendschappelijk" klopt misschien, maar als je ziet hoe Gakpo profiteerde, dan was het geen toeval. Deze jongen moet dit ritme meenemen naar de club, anders is het weer jammer genoeg een eenmalige piek.
Cruijff-vergelijkingen zijn always dangerous, maar ik vond die buitenkant rechts ook echt next level. Als Van Bommel dit al op die leeftijd laat zien, dan kan hij bij PSV echt doorpakken naar 10-15 echte goal-creations per seizoen 🚀🐐
"Dat was de perfecte voorzet" is wel lekker gezegd, maar ik ben vooral benieuwd hoeveel tijd hij had voordat hij 'm kon raken. Als je dat soort kwaliteit af en toe hebt, dan win je wedstrijden, dat is idd waar.
René zegt het ook al: als hij mist, praten we er niet over. Maar goed, hij gaf 'm wel. IMO is dat precies het verschil tussen een assist en een gemiste kans.
tbh snap ik wel dat Derksen zo lyrisch is, want die bal was niet "random goed", die was echt perfect geplaatst. Wel benieuwd of hij dit ook onder druk bij Oranje weer kan herhalen, want snelheid van de beslissingen is anders.
Tbh die vergelijking met Cruijff vind ik overdreven, maar die bal was wel class. Wat Van der Gijp zegt klopt ook, het wordt meteen een verhaal als hij raak is. Lekker scherpe voorzet, geen toeval.
"Dat was de perfecte voorzet" man, ik zie het echt voor me. Van Bommel legt zo'n buitenkant rechtervoet bal perfect neer voor Gakpo. Als PSV dit meer krijgt, gaat het hard.
Die voorzet van Ruben was echt porno voor de ogen, buitenkant rechtervoet en precies op tijd. Dit is ook waarom hij bij PSV zo gevaarlijk kan zijn in aanvallende fases 🔥
