Jan Boskamp lyrically about PSV players: “It was a pleasure”
1 min readAlso Jan Boskamp saw father and son Van Bommel make their debut last week for the Netherlands and Belgium. Boskamp is lyrical about the duo.
Ruben was directly important last week with a world assist from Oranje against Germany (1-1) for Cody Gakpo. That prevented a defeat for the new national team coach Xavi Hernandez.
''The way they made that equalizer in stoppage time was magnificent. Both Van Bommel junior's assist and Gakpo's finish. It was a pleasure, just like I enjoyed Belgium. Nice how all those new national team coaches are bringing in a breath of fresh air'', says Boskamp to the newspaper Het Belang van Limburg.
The analyst, a die-hard Feyenoord supporter and also a well-known figure among our neighbors to the south, also saw father Mark make his debut as head coach of the Red Devils. Under the guidance of the PSV icon, Belgium beat Italy 0-2, but last Monday, shortly before time, they lost 0-1 to France.

Against the Italians, former Ajax player Mika Godts scored for the 0-1 on behalf of the Belgians. Godts was still absent last summer from the World Cup squad in which De Rode Duivels were defeated 2-1 in the quarterfinals by the eventual world champions Spain.
Boskamp understood nothing of the fact that the winger stayed home. ''He has so much scoring ability. Under Garcia, that hadn’t come out yet with the national team, but maybe it just works out better with a Dutch coach like Van Bommel'', the analyst said.
For father and son Van Bommel, there are still two international matches on the calendar this period. Ruben takes on Oranje on Thursday against Greece and on Sunday against Serbia, while father Mark faces Turkey on Friday and heads to Paris on Monday evening for the match against France.
