Italian media lyrical | Former PSV player picks up the thread again and makes a hat-trick: ‘I’m happy to be back’
1 min readAfter a somewhat disappointing World Cup for former PSV player Donyell Malen, the forward has picked up where he left off at his current club AS Roma. Malen was the celebrated man on Monday evening for the club from the red part of Rome during the match against Fiorentina.
The Romans won 4-0 against the team from Florence and the former PSV striker provided a hat-trick. Teammate Paulo Dybala was good for an assist for the Orange international three times.
After the duel, Malen was full of praise for the Argentinian. ''It is fantastic. I’m happy to be allowed to play with a player like this. He understands my movements and creates space for me to score,'' says the former PSV player to DAZN Italia
At the start of this calendar year, the striker left Aston Villa on loan for AS Roma. At that club, Malen impressed so much that the Roman club decided to sign the attacker permanently.
His strong first half of the season in Italy ultimately also earned the forward a spot in the Orange squad for the World Cup in North America, but there Malen by no means managed to impress. For the former PSV man, that is reason enough not to look back at that tournament anymore.
''I'm happy to be back. What happened has happened. Now we've started again and I felt the energy in the stadium'', said Malen.
