Important role for PSV player in friendly international match
1 min readOn the night of Tuesday to Wednesday, Team USA beat Chile 4-2. PSV player Sergino Dest played a crucial role.
Dest actually started as a wing attacker in the training match with the South American country and in the first half was responsible for an assist to Sebastian Berhalter. As a result, the team of head coach Mauricio Pochettino took a 1-0 lead.
Despite this, both teams went into halftime with a 1-1 score, and shortly after the start of the second half the Chileans even took a 1-2 lead. Still, the Americans managed to set things right again two minutes later and, via Julian Hall, worked the 2-2 equalizer.
Ultimately, Pochettino’s side took the lead in the 72nd minute, and in the 93rd minute the match was finally put beyond doubt. Through Mathis Albert, who at seventeen years and 131 days old is the youngest ever goalscorer for Team USA, it became 4-2.
Dest eventually achieved the 3-2 and 4-2 from the bench since the versatile PSV player was replaced in the 63rd minute by former PSV player Malik Tillman. The two Americans are playing for their country this period in two more internationals against neighboring countries Mexico and Canada.

Die Mathis Albert 4-2, 17 jaar en 131 dagen, crazy! Dest werd dus vervangen door ex-PSV Malik Tillman, dat blijft toch altijd lollig om te zien als PSV-fan 🤡. Eens kijken hoe Mexico en Canada reageren op die Amerikaanse flankdruk.
Dest 3-2 en 4-2 vanaf de bank... dat is altijd tricky. Maar goed dat Pochettino het in de 72e en 93e netjes afmaakt. Hall en Albert pakten het wel ff over zeg, goated 👀.
"Dest beleefde uiteindelijk de 3-2 en 4-2 vanaf de bank" tbh had ik hem liever de hele wedstrijd laten staan, maar Tillman vs Dest gaat natuurlijk ook altijd schuiven. Nu nog even kijken hoe het gaat tegen Mexico en Canada, daar wordt het pas echt pittig. 🤬
"Voor PSV'er Sergino Dest was er belangrijke rol weggelegd" en ja, hij begon scherp. Toch snap ik niet waarom je als vleugel zo vaak in het offensief start als je positie tijdens momenten na rust open blijft liggen.

idk, 4-2 is leuk maar als ze zo makkelijk terug in de wedstrijd komen tegen Chili dan is er nog werk aan de organisatie. Wel netjes dat USA direct reageerde na 1-2, maar defensief moet het bij PSV ook strakker. 💀
Die wissel met Malik Tillman in de 63e minuut vind ik prima, maar ik ben benieuwd of Dest daar tactisch juist werd gespaard of puur omdat hij minder defensieve taken kreeg als forward. Wel lekker dat hij vanaf de bank ook nog 3-2 en 4-2 zag. 👀
ldk of dit echt zegt dat hij daar helemaal gaat doorpakken, maar die assist op Berhalter is peak 🔥. En Tillman erin op 63e, dat is ook meteen zo'n PSV-gevoel.
Dest als vleugelaanvaller en dan gelijk een assist pakken, dat is toch wendbaarheid. Hopelijk bouwt PSV daar ook iets op voor zijn rol in de opbouw. 🚀
