"I would like to see Veerman in the starting lineup right away."
1 min readAfter two years away, Joey Veerman is back with Oranje. The former PSV player may be in line for his return to the starting lineup on Thursday.
If Ziggo Sport analyst Youri Mulder has his way, the former fan favorite of PSV will be in the starting lineup as the Netherlands take on Germany at home on Thursday evening during the Nations League. Mulder says this in the program Rondo on Ziggo Sport.
Former PSV player Wim Kieft also hopes for a starting spot for Feyenoord player Gjivai Zechiël. ''You want changes as well, I can imagine. I'm curious whether he will let Zechiël play in midfield. I would like to see that,'' Kieft says.
Then Mulder joins the discussion. ''I would like to see Veerman straight in the starting lineup. You have four matches and 26 players. I think everyone will get some minutes,'' says the former footballer.
''Would you start off the same as Koeman or here and there make some changes?'', Kieft then asks Mulder. ''I would make some adjustments'', says the sporting director of FC Schalke 04 and Kieft shares that opinion.

Aanpassingen doen klinkt goed, maar ik wil wel een duidelijke keuze zien. Tegen Duitsland moet je niet gokken: geef Veerman de bal, en laat PSV-invloed het verschil maken. 👀⚽
"Ik zou Veerman wel meteen in de basis willen zien". Ik snap Mulder, maar ik hoop dat ze niet vergeten waarom hij twee jaar weg was. Als zijn ritme goed is dan go, anders liever opbouwen.
Kieft zegt "Ik zou het wel willen zien" bij Zechiël, maar ik ben benieuwd of dat niet te veel gepruts is. Middenveld is bij Oranje juist de plek waar controle telt, niet experimenten.
🔥 Tbh Koeman met 4 wedstrijden lijkt me perfect moment om meteen te prikken. Als Veerman 90 min kan, dan moet hij er gewoon staan.
Veerman in de basis is echt logisch. Jongens kunnen 26 spelers verdelen, maar Veerman heeft dat tempo en rust dat we vaak missen.
