1 min readThe defeat of PSV away at FC Twente came as a surprise to Kees Luijckx. That says the analyst in an interview with ESPN.
Despite a 1-2 lead a quarter of an hour before time, Peter Bosz’s side lost 3-2 and with that suffered the season’s first competitive defeat. Moreover, thanks to the victories of Feyenoord and AZ, PSV also dropped to third place on the standings.
Nevertheless, Luijckx is of the opinion that PSV has a better squad compared to last season, when Bosz’s team became the earliest Eredivisie champion ever. ''I’m still surprised. I think PSV has the best squad in the Netherlands, and I thought they would be the sole rulers again,'' the analyst says.
After that, the former defender continues his story. ''They’ve only not quite got everything in sync yet. It’s not yet the well-oiled machine they were last season. There have, of course, been some changes in personnel, but still, I think it’s an incredibly good group. I think this squad might even be better than last season,'' says Luijckx.
The former footballer also discusses the signings Kodai Sano and Lutsharel Geertruida. ''They may not yet have reached their top level. Maybe there still needs to be a few things put in place. But yes, of course they have again dropped a few valuable points'', said the ESPN analyst.

Yeah i get the surprise, i thought PSV would steamroll again. But losing points again even with new signings is worrying, they should kill games better when they are up. Also the drop to 3rd because Feyenoord and AZ won... frustrating 😅

psv heeft op papier een dreamteam, maar tegen druk en omschakeling krijgen we te vaak een "niet op de rit" moment. als Luijckx zegt dat deze selectie zelfs beter kan zijn dan vorig seizoen, dan moeten we het ook laten zien. 💯

Sano en Geertruida moeten nog landen, dat hoor je gewoon in de automatismen. Vooral als je voorstaat tegen Twente, moet je games managen, niet openbreken. 👀
