How many supporters PSV takes to the away match against Ajax
1 min readFor PSV, the Eredivisie 2026/2027 begins Saturday evening with a home match against Fortuna Sittard. In matchweek 5, on Saturday 5 September, the big match sees Ajax visit.
In recent years, there has been a lot of hassle regarding the number of supporters PSV was allowed to take to Amsterdam. Thus, no fans were welcome during the 2022/2023 edition due to antisemitic chants during the battle for the Johan Cruijff Shield in July 2022.
In 2024/2025, PSV decided on its own not to allow away fans to travel to Amsterdam due to fears of antisemitic chants. PSV made this decision after the 2023/2024 edition.
Last year, during Ajax - PSV (2-2) 700 fans were allowed to travel from Eindhoven to the Johan Cruijff Arena. This is less than half the capacity of the away end, since around 1,600 supporters can fit in the away end.
This season PSV may travel to the away match against Ajax with 1000 supporters. This means that there will be a few more supporters present than last season.
Despite that, PSV will therefore not be able to rely on the support of a full away end on 5 September. The reason for that is still unknown.

😂 antisemitische spreekkoren zijn echt echt niet te verdedigen, maar dan snap ik niet waarom ze niet gewoon die 1600 vol kunnen vullen als er geen harde maatregel is. 1000 is oké, maar breng gewoon je echte sfeer, gooi die sfeer de Arena in.⚽🔥
"De reden daarvoor is nog onbekend." Dat is dus exact het probleem, iedereen blijft speculeren. Na al dat gedoe rond 2022 en 2024 snap ik dat ze voorzichtig zijn met dat soort risico's, maar laat dan ook zien wat de beperking is. Anders krijg je weer ruzie, en Ajax-uit is al zwaar genoeg.
"1000 supporters" is an upgrade, but lets be real, not a proper away army. 🔥 We need that intensity, especially vs Ajax. If they only fill half, it will feel flat from the start.
The numbers are wild. Last year 700 at 2-2 and now 1000, but still not even close to full capacity. Cant believe the reason for the "not full stand" is still unknown, that's the part that worries me a bit.
1000 man naar Ajax is progressie tbh, maar da's nog steeds geen vol uitvak. Als het "vol" niet kan, dan wil ik gewoon duidelijkheid over waarom. Vorig jaar 700 bij 2-2 was al prima, maar dit seizoen voelt het alsof ze nog steeds achter de feiten aan lopen.
1000 supporters naar Amsterdam is toch altijd weer zo'n half besluit... tbh ik snap de angst voor antisemitische spreekkoren, maar dan voelt het wel alsof PSV zichzelf blijft beperken. Hopelijk blijft het rustig en krijgen die jongens gewoon echt een sfeer.
