Former PSV player looks forward to FC Twente - PSV: 'Always fun'
1 min readPSV travels Sunday afternoon to Enschede for the clash with No. 4 FC Twente in the seventh round of the Eredivisie. At 14:30, Peter Bosz's side kicks off at De Grolsch Veste against the Tukkers, and PSV, as league leaders, hopes to go into the international break.
PSV also faces two former players, namely goalkeepers Joël Drommel and Lars Unnerstall. Drommel left last summer after five years at PSV and decided to return to Enschede.
Unnerstall was under contract with PSV between 2018 and 2021, and under coach Roger Schmidt was the second-choice goalkeeper behind the Swiss Yvon Mvogo. Since the 2021/2022 season, the German has been the regular choice between the posts for the Tukkers.
In a conversation with Voetbal International, the goalkeeper says he is looking forward to the match against PSV. ''It’s always fun to play against an old club. Whether it’s PSV or VVV-Venlo—if that were still possible in the Eredivisie,'' the goalie begins.
At PSV, the German still played alongside current PSV players Mauro Junior and Armando Obispo. “Nice to see them twice a year again. But it’s not that I still message guys from that time. I’m not really the kind of person to keep in touch with everyone I’ve come across in football,” says Unnerstall.
The closer discusses Wout Weghorst's arrival at FC Twente as well. ''Football looks good. Wout has found his place in the starting lineup and is doing his thing. He asks for the balls, makes his goals; that's why he was brought in. As a team, though, we need to score more goals from inside the box. This week it worked out well. But with all due respect for Telstar and ADO Den Haag, against for example AZ or PSV, there still has to be an extra push'', said the former PSV player.

Die quote over PSV "nog wel een schepje bovenop" voelt een beetje als respect, maar ook pressure op Twente zelf. Benieuwd of Bosz Weghorst kan isoleren of dat het weer een chaoswedstrijd wordt in Enschede. Verdomd, ik heb er zin in. 😅
Weghorst heeft zijn plek gevonden, fair. Nu hebben we alleen geen zin om "Telstar en ADO Den Haag" als maatstaf te horen, AZ en PSV zijn een ander niveau, exactly. PSV moet gewoon hun kansen pakken en Twente dwingen tot foutjes. 💯
Drommel en Unnerstall tegen ons, altijd even emotioneel. Maar Unnerstall die niet echt appcontact heeft met die PSV-jongens vind ik wel herkenbaar, jongens uit de tijd lopen niet zomaar meer rond. Toch, ik wil 3 punten, no excuses. Wout gaat sowieso gevaarlijk zijn.
psv als koploper is leuk, maar Weghorst of niet, PSV moet gewoon oppassen voor die counters. Maar goed, als Bosz het spel kan sturen, krijgen we een echte topwedstrijd. Laten we hopen dat Twente niet alleen tegen PSV "een schepje bovenop" doet, maar het ook echt kan afmaken.
"Leuk ze twee keer per jaar weer te zien" is aardig, maar ik wil dat PSV dat gemiste contactgevoel omzet in 3 punten. Als Telstar en ADO hetzelfde hebben gemist als het gaat om goals, dan moeten wij het verschil maken tegen Twente 🔥
Eens. Drommel en Unnerstall kennen onze gewoontes, maar dat is juist het voordeel: je kan zien waar de zwakke plekken vallen. Als PSV snel scoort is het meteen klaar met die Twente-drift 💯⚽
"als team moeten we wel meer ballen binnen schieten" tbh klinkt als een compliment richting PSV-kwaliteit. Maar goed, Twente kan ook gewoon snel schakelen met Weghorst, dus PSV achterin moet scherp zijn. 🔥
Idk, die quote over "nog een schepje bovenop tegen PSV" voelt bijna als garantie dat Twente extra agressief wordt. Wij moeten dan niet alleen koploper willen blijven, maar ook echt domineren in duels. Hopelijk geen slordige turnovers in de opbouw.
Unnerstall zegt dat Weghorst zijn ding doet, fair, maar ik ben vooral benieuwd wie bij PSV de ruimte gaat bewaken. Weghorst vraagt de bal, dus als onze verdediging te hoog staat wordt het spannend 👀
"Altijd leuk" vind ik wel terecht, maar Twente zal ons niet cadeau doen. Als PSV met de interlandbreak in gedachten speelt, moet je juist scherp blijven in De Grolsch Veste. Twente gaat druk zetten, dus wij moeten het tempo eruit halen 🔥
Unnerstall die zegt "altijd leuk" tegen PSV, ok maar ik hoop dat Bosz hem vandaag pakt, liefst vroeg. Twente thuis is altijd lastig, maar als PSV koploper wil blijven moet je ook echt doorzetten. 👀⚽
